There are some photos earlier in this thread where I attempted to make and use a stencil. It didn't turn out too well.

Re: wanted 8000 RPM tach Lens pic

I'm feeling really good about how this sage green vinyl matches the original color. I made a new tach sticker out of it, along with a VACUUM sticker. This is the first time I've applied a VACUUM sticker. I had to make the letters skinnier than I had them so that they'd match the other text.

Thanks for this. Looking forward to see how the 8k decal works out for my air pressure lense.

Re: wanted 8000 RPM tach Lens pic

I just got a message from the print shop that they are direct-printing 8k tach and vacuum text on a lens for me right now. The technician spent a bunch of time color-matching the factory text color. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Here's the proof they sent me (before color matching).

Re: wanted 8000 RPM tach Lens pic

I got the first sample lens back from the print shop. It's a lens that has cracks in it. I am impressed by the print quality. They did a nice job of color matching. One thing I wasn't expecting is that they printed a layer of white on the back of the text. I was told that this is a way to make the color not look washed out, and it helps with back-lighting. I will assemble it into a cluster later tonight so I can see how the back-lighting looks.

The direct-printed 8k tach text lights up well.

Re: wanted 8000 RPM tach Lens pic

I just finished making a custom back tin that lowered the 8k tach by about 3/16". I did this because the tach was centered in the gauge hole when viewing it straight on. You end up looking down at the gauges at an angle though, and this viewing angle caused the upper portion of the gauge to be hidden. The speedometer and fuel gauge are off-center in the downward direction for this same reason, so it makes sense to have the tach mounted the same way. Here are before and after photos.

That is the other thing that bothered me when I installed the 4K diesel tach with the aftermarket 8K lens. I planned on lowering the tach in the opening and a smidge to the left to Center the tach’s view while sitting in the truck. I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed this detail.
