What do you guys use after you welded something on, grinded the welds down to smooth the metal out? Sand paper, higher grit on the angled grinder? Or just be real soft with the die-grinder?

If your welds are really good or you managed to weld it from the backside (not possible where you are welding on your truck but on some panels this is possible) you can use a right angle die grinder with the small spiral loc discs in 80 - 120 grit. I use my 4-inch right angle grinder to knock down my heavy welds and then finish them off with the air angle and the 80 - 120 grit disc.

Get some flap discs to go on your 4" angle grinder, they work great, I would never go back to anything else. For finishing in tight areas I use a angle die grinder with a 2" disc.

i use the flaper disks like Gee emm posted.. just gotta watch you dont lay on it to hard.. might not happen to you on a older truck but on the new sheet metal on late models its thinner and you can warp it.. if you watched trucks stacie used them when he was showing how to shave door handles and gas doors!!

Home depot didn't have then, the OSH down the street from them didn't have them. Stopped by the OSH near my house to pick up some stuff and what'da you know, they had them. Picked on just 2. Just got to be nice with them and they do wounders. thanks guys!
