Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Cal- No real progress to take pics of I'm afraid. A few weeks ago my cabinets above my work bench broke off of the wall and made a huge mess. I am trying to get rid of stuff just to make enough room to clean it all up. I have done nothing but part trading, selling and buying latley. I am itching to get it together though. My wife just finally got a new car and she wants half the garage to park in. Seems fair as long as she is willing to let me dump some money into putting it back together. It is about ready to begin reassembly. I just need to run brake lines, C notch and get the running gear mounted. Most of the kinks are worked out but I just haven't had the time or room to get anything done.

Gump- That sounds great, it looks nice in the pic. Do you have a thread going anywhere? I have looked before but never found one.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Sounds good. Well here is the trailor I drug home today. The tailgate is really nice!

I bet the people who live around me aren't quite as excited. I still need to make room to hide it.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Well my Dad came by today and we finally got the engine and tranny in. Didn't go as planned, you know how it is. Turns out that the motor mounts are wrong and so is the tranny mount. It's still sitting where it belongs and it looks like progress!

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Progress!!! You got the motor in, cool! Just a note on the brake arm. Make sure to slide it through the hole in the floor before you put the cab on. I also had to us a return spring on the arm to keep the brakes from dragging

Hey Buddy, nice to see you back at it! I didn't know you were changing the cab also. By the way, my wife and I checked at that video you told me about. We were really moved by it.

White paint and all that chrome look great together. Looking forward to seeing more pics when she's done and out in the sunlight. Looking real good Jebb!

Talking Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Thanks guys! I am trying to make more time for it again, time is shorter than motivation.

I am glad you liked the video Cal, I have passed that one on many times and everyone tells me they started it but didn't have time to finish it. It's worth the time to watch it for sure.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Hey Jebb, are you going to put the front bumper on? I saw one once that had a front roll pan instead of the bumper. It looked real good too. Kinda wished that I had done that when I had the chance. Are you going to change the color or keep it white? It looks good with that chrome.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

I am going to attach the original frame horns to the subframe. That is actually why the front clip is sitting on there right now. I plan to run full chrome and original bumpers front and rear. I am a big fan of the trucks the way the rolled of the assembly line. I just want the more modern handling and some rumble under the hood. For paint, the bed will hopfully be painted to match the front for now, then as I slowly get the body right it will be primer spotted. Eventually it will be two tone white and either turqoise (sp?), red or dark gray. I want it to have a very 50's look when I am done.

Your truck is one of my favorates by the way.
