I've not seen that movie. Sounds weird.
Wide body Ramblers are interesting. Is that weird?

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons

When I was a kid only old bittys drove Ramblers. Except the weird guy on my block that never mowed his lawn. He had a turd brown American that he never washed. The car might have been white for all I know. It was always brown.

My hippie stoner buddy had a Metropolitan. His girlfriends dad gave it to him. It was black and white. Somebody hit him and totaled it. And he went out and bought another one.

My first car 1960 Chevrolet Brookwood when I was 18 years old, great fun on the weekends with a lot of friends inside.
You could fit 8 people without any problems.

Cool wagon. A great thing to have when you were young, right? My older son drove a '65 Biscayne I found in great shape. He started out driving in that and for seven years. He was popular because of that car.

Thanks, yes it was a fun car, learned how to fix cars with Dad's help welding the floors.
Cheap prices back then, but not anymore.
A 65 has great body styling and dependable on the road.

Re: Pic Thread: Station Wagons

I also figured a wagon would be safer in case of an accident. His was a 6cyl/3pd manual everything. Simple as a Volkswagen is what I'd tell people. and "20 minute tune-up". I did the first one while he watched. Turned around and had him do it again. That was it!

Same engine in mine, simple and great running car.
Traded it later for a 1964 Ford Fairlane, should kept the wagon instead....was a "bondo-bucket" with cracked engine block.

But in the early 80's I picked up this Chevrolet, came from Belgium and was used as a hearse.
Had long chrome-rails on each side, two square lights on the roof and very low mileage.
Repaired all the rust issues and installed a rear bench seat & new fresh two-tone paint job.
Found a used nice roof rack, became a daily driver for 6 years.

Nice wagon. That had the new 2-way tailgate, didn't it? Probably why it made it to be a hearse in it's former life. Belgium, ey?

Not hearses, but these are wagons you wouldn't want your family riding in

Cool Cop-cars ! Would like finding one of those with a 440 under the hood !
Yes, the 2-way tailgate was nifty getting stuff easy in the back.
Was rust in all 4 doors & quarter panels + tailgate, couldn't find any good used doors so made new outer lower pieces + repaired the bottom.
Tailgate was a challenge.. not flat as you would think, but a small curve from left to right, didn't have a english wheel in the shop, so first attempt became a fail.
Had to cut it all off and start over, all welding seams I covered with lead afterwards before filler.
Both quarter panels long windows had to be taken out because of rust in both corners, that was scary but went fine with sharp knife and go slow cutting thru the old urethane.
Back then I had a body-shop so "spare time" and weekends became my project.
