Re: Summit lowering springs

Measure your truck BEFORE and after you put them in.
(just to get an accurate drop measurement)

Re: Summit lowering springs

Mine had what appeared to be the original springs on the front before I installed those springs. I was wondered if the stock springs might be sagging so much that I wouldn't notice any difference with the Ground Force springs but was pleasantly surprised. It dropped the nose down nicely. Not slammed, but just what I wanted out of it.

Post up pics when you are done, hope they work as well for you.

Re: Summit lowering springs

Please Please Please get some measurements. Before and afters from spindle or wheel center to the fender lip straight up. I just finished 3" Beltechs and one coil an it's too low for me. I'm thinking 2" springs and matching th back. I think th one coil off turned into 3 inches instead of 2

Re: Summit lowering springs

On this subject, here are some pictures I took back when I was removing my Summit (Ground Force) 3 inch springs and swapping in a pair of DJM 2 inch springs.

Re: Summit lowering springs

I don't know if it would make sense if we made a calculation of the springs with my stock ones but here they are. Now that I look at them I can see why there was a lean. Not the two lower coils ar not the same spacing, and I did have a fitting issue on the top pockets.

I value your opinion, as well as SCOTI's and other's here.
Now it sound's like it's boiling down to just the 3" spings,... period?
Or just this Ground Force/Summit brand of 3" spring?

I too have run stock "cut" springs with a 3" drop.
I've also trimmed 2" drop springs to create a 3" drop.
I have a set of these Summit 3" drop springs in my red '69 right now.
(I've only driven it about 50 miles, though)

Just trying to understand, if it's just these springs or all factory manufactured 3" drop springs that everyone hates?
Sounds like the Summit brand is out.
What about other brands?
Any other members, running 3" drop springs,... want to chime in?

I just ordered a set of 3in. dropped springs from POL. They're suppose to be
moog springs. I am concerned now about installing them. I'm goin to try them and see how it works. My main concern is the alignment.

Re: Summit lowering springs

I think you made an ok chioce. I've been debating whether to toss my 3" beltech spindles with the wheel fitment problems I've had, but not yet. I don't know about the ride of the 3" lowering springs but I do have an easy fix for keeping the springs in place. They are much shorter so you need to decrease the downward travel of the suspension to keep tension on the spring at all times. So the easy fix is to put a larger bump stop on the bottom side of the upper control arm. This will stop the suspension from letting the spring come loose from it's intended location when jacking it up or going airborn lol.

And yes we want pics!
