In regards to the triangle filler piece, it is needed. The triangle allows clearance for the check link on the upper hinge. You do have to grind the check link down to the spot welds, but it stays on the hinge and keeps your door from opening into your fender. In order for us to go to a "full" one piece glass, the check link would have to be removed completely leaving an unsecured door. The triangle filler also allows clearance for hinge support that is in the door. This support runs at an angle from the bottom of the upper hinge to the top of the lower hinge. This makes for a very tight fit with the glass at its sharpest point. The risk of the glass breaking or jamming when in the down position was too high. Team that up with the fact that no 2 doors are alike, we felt that it would be safer to go with a sure fit product. We have been selling our kit for over 6 years now with very few problems. If we had gone the other route with such tight tolerances, we don't think it would have been such a success. Plus the triangle makes a cool place for a custom mirror.
