Re: 1 piece windows

I have not found one that is lower in cost. The brothers kit looks like it is complete as they come, this is worth its weight in gold IMHO.

Re: 1 piece windows

check out no limit engineering, not sur of price now but I installed one in my goodmark doors about three years ago, and worked fine, the kit came with all parts including weatherstripping, does reguire some welding though, for the corners by where the wing window used to be.

Re: 1 piece windows

I haven't found one lower in cost, but $600 for 1pc power windows of the quallity that Brothers has is very reasonable in my book - especially for the direct bolt-in, no hassle kit that Brothers sells.

I don't think this is something you want to be a cheapskate with. From what I hear, there were/are several cheapo one-piece kits out there that are hellaciously awful - tons of wind noise when driving down the road, windows coming off-hinge, falling inside doors, I've read some real horror stories.

Check out this place, they make power window kits for our trucks and they will work with the one piece windows.

Re: 1 piece windows

I believe LMC carries a power window kit for $149. I am not aware of any reason this would not work with the 1 piece brothers window since the brothers window uses the stock crank if you go manual. I just bought the windows and planned to try this myself.

Re: 1 piece windows

First off, where are you guys finding the Brothers kit for $600...I just looked on their website and it was $749...

Anyhow, I have priced it and it is about $100 cheaper to get the manual crank 1-piece window kit from brothers for $399 and get the power regulators from a1electric life for $249

Re: 1 piece windows

Brothers regularly has sales. I have seen three times this year when it was 10-15% off the listed price. $679 is the highest price I think I have ever seen from them.

Just to confirm on that, during their "Back to school sale" a month or two ago, it was $674 for the power 1pc kit.

73-87chevytrucks.com will start selling these shortly. They will be roughly $500 with a choice of clear, "green" or grey tint:

This would be the MONEY shot!!! (no little triangle thingy...)

Cap'n can I get some more information on these? Are they direct bolt in? What modifications if any are required?

Re: 1 piece windows

Sorry for the delayed response. I just noticed this post and swooped in and posted those during a break from house repair before I forgot.

I will post another topic on these tomorrow. With the answers above? If you have anymore, shoot me an email at webmaster@73-87chevytrucks.com or send me a PM.

I am unsure on the motors, but I will check. As for the modifications, it will be about the same as the current offering.

Re: 1 piece windows

I admit, the lack of triangles is hot. I can't help but wonder if that little triangle is a functional piece though, and the lack of it will cause added wind noise, vibration or other bad qualities that nobody wants or that would cause serious annoyance on long trips.

Re: 1 piece windows

The only reason the triangle is in there is because the original creator of the kit took the simple route and only moved the vertical channel forward enough to clear for the most amount of glass. Their kit has been copied and duplicated by many companies now and they no longer make the kit with the triangle. They are however making this new kit and it will be patented...

For some reason I am not getting notices on this post, so I just have to check it when I can. I am trying to gather all the info on this and then make a new post...

This is very similar to the glass configuration in my 48 and I have had no problems.
