Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1

Finally we refitted the hood and have the sweet Porter Built hinges installed. They look 100% better and they operate 200% better than the terrible factory hinges. We can't wait to get the fenders remounted so that we can see the whole front end back together.

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1

Also this last weekend we got to power up our key less door popper remote that we got from Watson's Street Works. Watson's is a great place and they sale good products. The main module is and will be mounted behind the seat. Temporarily we have it mounted on a stick but in the future we will put it on a speaker box. Yes from time to time we have to use back woods materials but many of times bailing wire and duct tape save the day.

Here is another pic of the inside and the dash. It feels good to be progressing. I am ready to start buttoning up the truck so maybe we can get it rolling again.

Thanks on the diamondplate floor, I was not sure about it when we first put it in but after painting it, it turned out pretty good and was cheaper than the factory floor.

The seat is a glide engineering seat and I had it covered locally. It is a comfortable seat and sits nicely.

The truck's coming along nicely! I really like the center console you made up for the shifter. I may have missed it, but what year is it? I'd like to see some better shots of the grille too. One last request, What are the stats on the drop? Air, static, amount?

The truck is 67 but we changed out the cab for a 70 so that we would have a big window and the low hump. I will try to get some better shots of the grill next time I am there. We took an old 67 grill cut out the center an made some changes. As far as the drop go it is a static drop. We found a new set of DJM control arms and rear springs that a fellow builder had and we traded a seat for. I am thinking the front is dropped about 3 inches but I forgot to measure the front before we changed out the original arms.

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1

Here are some pics when we got the hood on. It took a few hours to get all the panels moved around to where all the gaps looked good but I think it is going to be show quality!!!

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1

Just found this build and I like what you are doing. The usb connector mount is nicely hidden but accessible. The console looks good to but I think it would look more finished with panels enclosing it to the firewall. Nice mod to the grill also. Lets see it finished up and out in the sunshine.

Hey thanks. Yea the console looks a little unfinished but one of our goals is for it to be functional and we put the heater/ac inside where the glove compartment is and we want the floor heater to work on both sides. A console like that was the easiest way to have a functional floor heater. Nothing like driving in the winter and your feet being cold. After it is driveable things like that are easily fixable. Thanks for the feedback!

It is a glide engineering seat and I had it covered by Hills Hot Rods, in Lubbock, TX. They did a great job!

Hey thanks! The white firewall is kind of an idea we had when when we decided we wanted to go with the hot rod/shop truck theme. It goes back to the days when hot rodding was still popular and if you look back there were rods with the white firewalls. That and we wanted something different.

I think you just need to post a link from youtube or where ever it's hosted. I don't think it can be directly loaded to the thread.
