Actually its an RPO listed on your SPID as "Manual Throttle". When I first saw the interior shots I thought it odd that you had the optional 4bbl 327, with a manual choke as it should have had the Choke Delete plate in place of the knob I saw there. Finally had some nice weather today so I pulled the brush truck out for some more photos. I still have not detailed the truck yet (that is the only restoration I am going to do). I have had two neighbors ask me, "are you going to restore it"? There is really nothing to restore, I think they just ask that because they se me working on the other trucks all the time.

that is one awesome find, congrats. glad you are planning on preserving it in it's original state. they never even drove it enough to get any bug guts on the front end. i bought a 72 K/20 from my local irrigation district several years ago on a sealed bid auction ($649.99 was my bid) but it sure didn't look near as nice as yours, it was beat pretty badly, blown up transmission, and the bed was spread apart so bad that i had to use a comealong to pull it together enough to close the tailgate,lol. after i got it towed home i was wishing someone would have outbid me but after a new trans, engine rebuild, new bed, upholstery and some paint it wasn't a bad old truck.

any idea why it has blue plates?

Yes I do know why it has the Blue plates. In CA a 1968 or 69 truck would have had Black and Yellow plates. This truck is a 68 model year but was first registered in 1970, thus the blue plates. I have the original "pink" title showing it first sold in 1970. And model year 68. My guess is since it was sold as a cab and chassis (maybe even in 1969) to a Builder of beds and fire equipment. Then sold to the dept and put in service in 1970. The plates are actually very nice to get with this truck since they are state plates. I can't legally drive the truck with these plates as a private party. It will soon be wearing CA Classic Plates when they arrive in the mail.

wow, wow, wow... I saved your pics for historical purposes on my 68 K-10 build. Very nice ride.. it would be nice to know what those sell for, for future reference if I ever am lucky enough to find one? When you get a chance can you give me the number on the carb and the number on the intake?

My 68 had a 4bbl 327 with choke delete (and emblem) and manual throttle in the lower right hole. It also had a tach dash but that shouldn't have mattered. I kick myself for getting rid of the carb so now i'm on the hunt for a replacement with matching numbers.

I hesitate to give my purchase price because I have not decided yet If I will keep this truck, or for how long.
For the last year I have been selling off some chevy's because I had more than I could handle/retsore and have been concentrating on GMC's. I have two 1916's a 1939 1/2 ton, a 50k original mile 1940 GMC panel, a 1947 AD 3/4 ton that is nearly completed, a 54 GMC with Hydramatic and a number of parts trucks.
Now that we have the internet even people in small towns with a car/truck out in the barn know what their cars are worth. And much of the time they believe theirs is worth more than the average.
This was the case with this truck. They knew what they had, and they had the advantage of not being in a hurry or needing the money because they were a gov. agency. The asking price was north of $12000 and I think it was still a bargain or I would not have bothered.

I have never owned a 68, but a couple "original" things I see that I have not before is the throttle rod is not straight like I have seen on the 69 models and the fuel line bend for the carb toward the choke is not like they are reproduced so I thought that was interesting too.

Intake number is- 18486572 The quadrajet number is not on the front or sides that i could see with a flashlight.

I think that's the firing order, is there another number? There should be a number just behind the carb..

carb should have been on it...hmm, let me know if you ever see one...thanks.

You are correct now that I look at the number if you replace a 3 with the second 8 it is the firing order.
I will have another look at it.

Does the build sheet list the wheel size? It believe the 16.5" wheels ( clip type ) would have been an option. Or does it have the 16.5" ( bump type ) wheels ?

The FD i been on for 20 years had a 69 c50 427 (i think, it was a big block engine) with 13k miles on it. I wish now i'd bought it. That is a beautiful truck. More i look at it, the more jelous i get.
