Re: You Know You're a Hardcore Chevy/GMC Truck Fanatic When:

i dont even bother trying to explain why i wont trade/sell my truck for a NEWER truck/car for the reliability and mpg.

Clerks at the local gas station know you by your first name, not just one gas station but several.

Looking at any newer vehicle just doesnt do anything for ya because they are EVERYWHERE.

Arriving at your destination smelling like a bit of gas/exhaust is normal.

Drive the 72 from Arkansas to Florida, pull a rocker stud, lucky break, buddy in Florida with empty trailer to haul me home. I couldn't wait to fix it. Get in it, and head for the gulf coast again.

I was that two year old 24 years ago. Needless to say the sickness was passed on at a very early age. My mom has pictures of two big legs and 2 little legs hanging out from under my dads 71 k/10.

If you have ever had a fuel pump go 400 miles away from home and changed it on the side of the interstate because you carry a spare in the toolbox.
The state trooper was impressed with that one.

It wasn't in my trucks, but I blew a coil in my 63 and happened to be carrying a spare 400 miles from home. Spare parts are a necessity.

If you have boxes of duplicate parts saved for future project trucks.

If you spot other 67-72s from a mile away, behind a barn, covered in dust. Yep, that's me.

If you check craigslist for cities you may be visiting or have family in just in case there's a good deal.

Now my true story;

After putting an offer on the house I currently own I stopped by in my Burb after work to make sure I was sane with my offer. The alley neighbor heard it idling and showed me his stash of 67-72 parts and multiple complete trucks. Helped seal the deal on the house.

When you have a brand new house, 3 car garage, 6 acres and everyone parks outside... 2-2014 focus's a 2014 fusion and a 2007 AWD Sierra.
Here is the proof. I'm standing on the other side of the cab on a dolly!
Oh... And btw there is 4" of snow on the ground!

When you go to bed after reading this thread and dream about truck parts. Specifically it was a Dream. Someone offered to give me parts out of a warehouse if I would move them because he needed the space and I opened the door to see what was in there and found 3 Blazer tubs and five complete cabs, all NOS... honey wake up. Ole'what's'er name never did have very good timing.

When you skip driving your truck to work 2 days in a row people start asking if "she" is Ok and is there anything they can do.

"When you go to bed after reading this thread and dream about truck parts."-----Amazing! I've been retired from the railroad for over a year now and just last night I dreamed I visited the guys and left my truck too close to the tracks and a train derailed and crushed my truck. they said they wouldn't cover it because I didn't work there any more. Boy was I happy to wake up....

Re: You Know You're a Hardcore Chevy/GMC Truck Fanatic When:

--When you look in the rearview mirror one morning, and there's this flinty-eyed, gray-haired old man squinting back at you, and you realize you're not 23 years old anymore and there's another 300,000 miles on the odometer. The Rip Van Winkle Flashback.
--When you're at the Chevy dealership for parts one day, and this New Car Salesman [white buck shoes, Haband slacks, Plaid sportcoat] offers you 3 times what you paid for your Orange '68 Stepside in trade for a new Squarebody Orange Stepside... And you're thinking, "Hmmm. I wonder what's wrong with the new trucks, that he'd want to give me so much for my old one? Think I'll keep it." Don't regret that one bit.
--When you play a grade-school-kid-like 67-72 counting game on the way back from work: 1 point for a normal fleetside pickup. 2 points for a Stepside. 3 points for Suburbans. 5 points for Blazers. Extra point for GMCs. Extra point for custom work, nice paint. Extra point for topless K/5s. Double points for Orange.
Obsessive/Compulsive? Nah. Just a normal 67-72 operator.

I'll play. When you look at a Craigslist ad for a 54 f250 but instead call on the 67-68 when you caught a glimpse of the bed bodyline in the background.
Did that earlier lol truck was sold already and when you have a mental map of every 55-88 Chevy truck for 11 square miles.
