I operate a small rental company, I cannot afford to turn down calls, no matter what the area code. I got a "private" call this year, almost didn't answer, but I did (thank God) because that turned out to be a great ski group rental.

If I get hit with a telemarketer, especially a foreigner, I put on my fake Chinese accent heavy, and just enjoy the call. The last time "Microsoft Virus Removal" called me I told him "I don't have a computer" to which he said "click."

*I actually don't have a "computer" not a desk top anyway, so I wasn't lying.

im still getting 4-5 calls a day from weird numbers....
sat I got a text from some crazy looking number...000.71-b09.000.458-741.... it went sumpin like this...

hi . this is pedro..im just calling to let you know I hit the powerball lottery...the only problem is I don't have enough money for a bus ticket to Florida so I can collect my winnings.. if you would send me some money for the bus fair id be willing to split my winnings with you...let me know if youd like to get in on this once in a lifetime opportunity ..please respond to pedro@xxxxxxxx....

and dang it ..wouldn't you know...I accidently hit the erase button instead of send money button...just my luck...I coulda been rolling in it by now

If that had been a phone call and unless I was into something right that moment, I don't think I could have resisted leading that guy on big time.

A few years ago, the "this is Microsoft and we are calling about your computer virus" calls were making the rounds. I had been hit twice but really didn't have the time to lead them on the way I wanted. So I planned to keep a tape recorder by the landline and the next time they called, to turn it on while I put on my best over-the-top gay voice and then get progressively more and more obscene with the guy, seeing how far he'd go. I was going to put the whole thing up on youtube against a backdrop of silly pictures.

Unfortunately I was bad sick the day he called, food poison I suspect, so when he got argumentative/demanding with me I just yelled a certain curse word into the phone as loud as I could three times and hung up. It must have had an effect, that was the last time I got such a call on my landline.

New day, new scam. Today's calls are from "Damian" telling us our Social Security accounts have been suspended, and giving us a phone number to call. Fat chance!!

We did report it to SSA and they asked us to also report it to the Federal Trade Commission.

I got two messages left on my voice mail. Says the local cops are going to arrest me because I have 4 charges against me, and I should call their number.

I'm not calling... they wouldn't leave two messages if it's a scam. Wife and I are loading up the truck. We're gonna make a run for it.... we're heading deep into Mexico!

Got a call similar to this some time back. Said I had a warrant out for me due to unpaid IRS taxes. If I did not call and make arrangements to pay back taxes I would have Feds at my door step within 48 hours. Didn't call and no one showed up. Guess I'm living on borrowed time with the IRS but they sent me my tax refund this year anyway.

Whenever I get a bogus call with claims of warrants and arresting me, I tell them I’m heavily armed and holed up in my house and they will never take me alive.

Can't seem to find the "like" button but that's a good response. Trouble is they called when I wasn't home to tell them "come and get me".

I got one from a guy with a deep India slang/voice who said "we are from the department of investigations..." So I asked him what's he selling, lets get to the rat killin etc.
He say "are you crazy?, we are the department of investigations we are not selling anything". You can just imagine his head tilting from left to right as he talks with that accent.

I thought it was funny. Results may vary.
