Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

Looking good. On the seats here are 07 Yukon third row seats. They are in two sections with builtin shoulder belts on side and a third lap belt. The width is about the same as a bench about 48" wide. The ones in the photos are fabric, in my thread around post 72 or so are shots of mine in leather. If you are a big guy these might not be for you, but for me I like the smaller size cushion (thickness). I went overboard on my frame to make it adjustable and be able to tilt the seats and take them out like the Yukon.

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

Well I put my bed back together today. It is now ready to set back on the truck but my assisant is about 6 mos pregnant so I thought better to ask her to help me set it back on the truck. She did manage to help me move the bed into the garage though but we didnt have to pick it up very high. I am sooooo ready to see this thing on the truck. Well here are a few pics of my progress.. And by the way the inside of the bed was painted with a flattened clear and the picture show some tiger stripes in the clear. I really havent noticed them but in the pictures

Looks great! Sometimes the flash of the camera and the lighting in the garage can play tricks with the gloss of the paint. I've seen some flat paint jobs that look terrible in photos, but almost perfect in person.

Keep it up!

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

thanks guys. I got a friend to come over today and helped me set the bed on. I just got it resting on the frame trying to line it up at the moment. once I get it to where I think it is right I will take pictures and see what it looks like. Is it just me or can yall tell if everything looks lined up better in pictures as far as body lines than in person?

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

I think it's just a new set of eyes looking at it. I might not be able to tell with some of my stuff, and when I put some pix up someone will might point out something not quite lined up right.

Regardless everything looks good. Can't wait to see the bed on.

I often find issues in photos that I missed when actually looking at something. But I find the 2-dimensional representation of a photo sometimes creates problems with angles that don't really exist.

I use photos, but I don't trust photos.

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

Here are a few pics in my cramped garage. Its not finished being lined up. It is sitting a little high because I was having some rubbing issues after it has been dropped. It was all fine before body work and the 5 inch drop. So I have got to figure out a solution on the cheap. I dont want to spend a lot to replace my wheel s to fix back spacing but that may be 1 solution or I could scour the junk yard to find me a 4wd rear end that is a little wider. we'll see.

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

well not alot has been done since I got the flu this week. I did pull it out the garage today and wipe her down and snap a few pics. I think instead of the 4wd rear. I am just going to remove the three inch drop blocks and run like that for a while, until I get more dinero to spend. here are a few pics

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

I made the maiden voyage to the DMV today to get plates. They didnt like the fact my bill of sell had a motor number that no longer mached the truck and a serial number on it. So i got to get it changed to show only the serial number. Here is a cell pic when I had to stop at Walgreens on the way.

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

Well I made it to the local cruise in this evening and the truck drove really well. I cruised the interstate at 70 no problem and it drove straight and smoothe. I was really impressed how well it did. I t is a huge satifaction knowing you built the ride you are driving down the road. I still have only one seat so no passengers and it will stay that way until I am comfortable on everything working correctly. But right now it seems I am well on my way.
