Re: FITech Experiences ?

Well, I didn't cancel to be out all together, I just want to see how the next couple months go.
Especially with the $795 GoStreet.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

What about 3 years down the road?
I'm searching the other aftermarket TBI EFI units, and I'm not finding rebuild kits similar to what we have available for our carburetors.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I read everything on their website and it does say they use standard Bosch injectors. As far as rebuild kits go the owners of FITECH seem to be very accessible and willing to help based upon what I've read.
I have looked at these off and on for years and this one has really peaked my interest! C'mon 65 pull the trigger!

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I feel for Rod and hope they get his straightened out. Rod has provided a ton of detailed info during his install in his build thread. So far the vast majority of stuff I have personally read has been positive. I am still going to go through with one but am a couple of months away from install.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

My motor will be first fire on a new build. I'm thinking I should maybe throw a carb on first. Get some timing set up and running before I switch over.
Anyone used one on a first fire?

Thanks man. Just frustrate. I sent back a bad ass carb and got a refund plus sold a serpentine belt kit I had so I could buy the FiTech. And as of now I feel like have been slapped in the face lol. But I am going to give them a chance. If not go back to a carb. I know for a fact my truck will run with a carb. And run like a scalded dawg.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

My decision to hold off for awhile is more motivated by past experience with new tech product releases.
Usually the first adopters work through all the glitches with much time invested. I have no problem waiting for more threads and write ups and experiences.

I would dial it in with carb. Cause with the FiTech the first 10-30 min it is searching and learning. Or in my case not doing what it should at all lol.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I agree.
Process of elimination.
Guys wanting also to run timing control with their EFI are recommended to first get fuel dialed in.
That way you can narrow down possible issues.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I will be keeping the FCC.
It will work with whichever EFI route I decide to take.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

Been doing much reading on timing control.
Some say the FiTech is pretty limited to the bigger names.
But then again, they may just be competitors posting as users.

I read that same thread the dude was talking about "cells" and stuff. How many facets or cells do you need for effective timing control?

Re: FITech Experiences ?

Don't know.
For just a street driver, does it matter?
Then again, an easy going street driver probably doesn't need computer timing control.
I'm glad I cancelled my order - if only to educate myself more.
I still have much to do with my truck before I need to dump $1000+ plus on fuel delivery.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

Ok, well,....
Over in RG10's thread, we're talking about Self Learning EFI and the possible issues with an engine that doesn't produce much vacuum.
Looks like I might start looking into swapping out my cam for something mild.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

EFI is not that important. I won't pull my big cam. Like I said if this does not work out I will go back carb. I just hope it does work out. Plus I hope if the FiTech does not work out they will refund me my money. I used PayPal so I should be protected. I do t remember if it is for 45 days or 180 days now. Starting to get a little nervous.

Re: FITech Experiences ?

I know I'm not that old, but I want my 65 to be mechanically dependable. Simple to work on. And economical enough to drive it more often.
If I go with a newer engine and tranny, it now becomes something I have to take to a mechanic. Right now it's a simple sbc, with a th350. (both with very little miles on them). I live in semi rural, but still stop & go, up & down hills, and curvy roads where I'll very rarely get above 50mph. Also our weather is all over the place.
If I can get a little better fuel economy, along with dependability for getting back and forth to work, without dumping a bunch of money into some EFI system, then if just swapping my cam out for something less radical, then that's the route I'll go.
