Re: Project '54 5W Chevy HELP PLEASE!!

check the gaskets on both ends to see if its not too big .
use a bit of kandle wax on the cuttingbit aluminium has a habbit of clogging up the bit keep it running cool or you be cleaning the bit every 3 seconds

polishing the intake on the inside might look good but keeping the ports a little ruff will maxe the intake charge more uniform cause of the vortecs the ruffness causes inside the manifold

I was going to give a source to you but you have already bought your belts...

I tried these on my truck and they fit. Irving Shute Co. manufactured these for Corvette. They have a definite old school look to them .... I'm restring these and they will be going in my 70' Fleetside.

Yes, a short excursion down to the body shop last weekend for the bed and hood to have painted. The first show I will hit is The Strawberry Festival here in Clovis the second weekend in May. I want to make Paso this year. Do you know when it is this year?

Always on Memorial Day weekend. I'm looking forward to meeting you and seeing your truck. Not sure if I'll make it to the Clovis show, but I'll see you in Paso for sure, with or without my '54, .

Here's a pic of the work that's been done to conceal the electric for the PW set up.(Notice the steel line welded to the top hinge to hide the elec.)

And the Bear claw style latch for the door

Door jam,

and the latch in door.

Hey Daniel,

That is a great idea for concealing the electrical wires! I have never seen that done before.

Re: Project '54 5W Chevy HELP PLEASE!!

Thanks Cal, I can't take any credit though. Paul is doing a great job and has a good eye for cleaning stuff up. I'm very pleased with his touches. He had the idea for the bed ends, welding the 2 piece hood together, losing the tailgate chains with latches, and designing clean looking A/C ducts and stereo/climate control area. A true metal artist. I'll try to post a pic of his rat project on another thread for everyone to see. It's a topless A.D. roadster P.U.

Re: Project '54 5W Chevy HELP PLEASE!!

It looks like we'll remove the last 2 leaves in the rear to level the truck out. We'll wait until the fluids are added to make the final decision. The 20+ gallons of fuel and wood bed will add some wieght. I hope the front won't be too low after the anti-freeze/coolant, oil, and brake fluid are added. We'll see soon. Should be ready to block sand and final prime in black in 2 weeks!

Re: Project '54 5W Chevy HELP PLEASE!!

Here's a few pics I took today.

The firewall is smoothed out.

Here's a shot of the seat from Glide
Paul's building the box for the subs and 6X9's tommoro.

The tweets have a housing behind the dash grill.

The holes drilled in the top of the steering column bracket will have LED lights to indicate the gear the 700R4 is in.

Daniel, what is the reason behind the weld bead on the fenders from the headlamp opening to the area by the grille?

There was a factory seam to weld and grind smooth.

Uhh, definitely. I won't miss seeing your truck if it's the only one I see. If it works out, you can cruise over to Paul's shop and see where he's at with mine. I'm happy with the work he's done and learning patience at the same time.

looks like your using the firewall mounted master cylinder?
How did you determine where to put it?

Is this what you're looking for? As far as placement, just measure for clearance, and weldd reinforcement to the interior of the firewall.
