Dang it! Sorry I missed you. You don't live that far from me, we should car pool out to Kyle's place and save some bucks! I don't know how you get as much done on your truck as you do with it being so far away.

No wonder it was delayed.

It's always fun to get boxes with new stuff, isn't it? The bad part is parting with the green stuff to get everything done. It's crazy doing two projects at once, and I want to tear into a third here soon.

It's funny cause I have been watching them on Ebay for like a couple of months and I kept watching the number available get lower and lower so finally I had just get them. Yeah the money thing, that's the hard part

Re: Short Changed

Time for a bit of an update. After cussing and discussing a number of variables, I decided to move the bars and shocks outside of the frame rails. Nate actually got me rolling on making the switch when he pointed out that I would most likely have ample room to make the move and improve the handling, which in the final analysis was the factor that was most important to me.

Fortunately Kyle completely understood the reasoning behind the switch and enthusiastically went right after making the move. Pix follow.

This shows where the links and shocks were before.

Here's the after.

I love this picture. Looks like it's ready to carve a curve.

Re: Short Changed

Looks like a wise choice. You can tell by looking that the wider track of the bars and shocks will give more stability out by the tires where it's needed most. Besides, it gives more room for the exhaust

Maybe by the time I do my tenth build I'll know the ins and outs of this stuff. I thought I would need to have everything inboard to get a good size wheel in there. The wheels in the pix have about the same backspace as I plan on getting in a 12" width.

Re: Short Changed

Get everything welded up and make sure it's sitting where we want it, then it all comes back apart for paint. Then brake and fuel lines go in, then the drive train.
The pace will pick up quite a bit after that.

Yes, LS1 with 4L60E. Kyle is going to install a new bumpstick and springs to give it a bit more of a kick. That's the plan as of this writing anyway.

My original plan was to run a BB, but that didn't make much sense in light of the goal to have a good handling truck for some occasional autocross action.

Thanks Mike. This is my first shot at doing an LS installation so I'm really looking forward to to learning about the ins and outs, and to see how it performs. If it goes like I hope, I've got got a couple other projects to drop these in.

Re: Short Changed

Ls drop ins are super easy. If you by a painless wire harness its even easier. It comes with all relays and color coded wire diagrams. Using the oem harness isn't that bad bud you need to know someone who can help identify what needs to connected where.

I have brand new conversion mounts if you need.

The engine wiring harness doesnt worry me so much as getting all the gauges to work.

The engine mounts were included with the Scott's front end. What kind do you use?
