Nice fab work. When I put new panels on and they don't line up I feel like I did something wrong. It's good to see that it's the panels not me. Well I'm sure some of it could be my fault. That is to be expected with aftermarket panels. But either way I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one.

No Sir! You are not the only one...
These companies out there that make these pieces (overseas) dont have the same quality control that the U.S. has, so when the dies get worn out they just keep stamping out parts to make money. Instead of making new dies (very expensive, I get that) but it's this type of thinking that produces the low quality parts.

Thank's Doug, It was alot of work getting it to flow properly, but the finished piece came out as needed.

Pic #3. So, I was talking to the customer and he decided he wanted the seam that runs the width of the cab welded.
This was after I stripped the primers etc off and used a wire wheel to get down inside the seam..

Dumb question...Is that to have a smooth transition from the back to the top? Or to prevent possible corrosion showing up later?

Actually Doug, that is a great question!!
It is really both, this is known spot for rusting on these trucks. He wanted it smoothed out for a cleaner look but to also prevent from rusting...

Red c10, YJ4000, swamprat, Kees and Doug Thank's guys...It is a small custom touch that alot of people may never notice, But that's what Chip Foose is famous for! those subtle changes...

X2. Show us the " boring bodywork" all you want, you do great work.

Body work and priming are two items I haven't learned yet, so I enjoy watching and learning about that process. Please feel free to share all you can. Cab is looking good Mark.

Bodywork is Not my strong suite, but I make do...My favorite part is the metal work (go figure lol)

Pic #1. Back on the firewall....This was after I sanded the first round of High Build.
You can see the dark areas (low spots) that need attention

Pic #2. After another round of filler etc. (guide coat revealed more low spots)

Pic #3. Here is a pic of fresh filler..If you notice it is Very rough looking, this is how I first "cut it"
I use an old bandsaw blade or hacksaw blade (for cutting metal) and basically form the area or get it roughed in. Then you can fine tune it as needed.
This will speed up the sanding.

Pic #4. If you notice here I am using a light blue looking filler.
This a poly filler used for finish work and sands really easy and leaves a nice smooth finish.

Pic #5. Fresh primer...
This firewall was pretty beat up on the upper section and needed alot of work. (prime,sand,fill,sand and repeat.)
