Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

It was good seeing everyone at the show.. I tell you what.. Looking at all those trucks makes me wish I had more time and money. (-; Here are the pics of how the trucks sits today.. It still needs to be wet sanded and scotchbrited out.. I hope to find time this week to do that before the show this weekend. Also here are two pics of the roof I bought from Teeitup awhile back. I have hail damage on my rood and a ton of rust under the inside of my cab.. I plan to cut mine off and weld this one on. Bryce i might want your help on that one.. Beer would be on me (-;

What's up with the for sale sign and you saying you're going to sell it? You're so close to the fun part of it.

The only reason I would sell it is that my buddy has a really nice 69 short he is wanting to sell me. It has brand new in box 18/20 torq thrust wheels, vintage air etc.. It needs just a few things but its way more put together than mine so my thought was if I could sell mine and add a few thou to the pot I might be able to get his.. I know mine probably wont sell at the price I want so I am not trying very hard LOL. Plus you are right mine is pretty close.. If I put a few grand in mine it would look really nice.. Also you mentioned a cab.. I know there is one in Great Bend that you can have if you go pick it up. No title just the cab. Let me know if your wanting to do a road trip.. I will try to line it up.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Well I havent posted for awhile.. I did make the Midwest Truck Nationals for atleast a few hours.. It was nice to be able to go out there and meet a few board members. I even got one of those awesome 67-72chevytruck.com stickers for my back window.. I also think I almost have my horn issues fixed. I plan to start the winter projects on the truck. I plan to work on the suspension some and fix the interior some.. I was playing with photoshop today so I thought I would post the mock-up.. What do you think of the offroad style wheels? I have never seen a set on a lowered truck adn I think they make an offset that might work. Let me know your thoughts. Also I lowered it a little haha. Photoshop is great!

been watching your build and you've made killer progress. Dig the faux-tina job. Much better than straight black. Also dig the Harley, i also have a 2000 RK. It's been on my lift for the last month or 6 weeks waiting on more $$$ to be thrown at it and another delivery from UPS. I can relate very much to trying to work on two projects at a time, and its a PITA to get everything done you want. Anyway, thanks for posting up all the pics.

I will probably do the 20x9 if I do it. The are +14 for offset going off memory. What are your thoughts do you think they will fit?

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Yes two projects are rough. Like right now the decision I have to make is air ride for the truck or bike. I wish I could do both but the money isn't there. I saw your link of your bike. That's nice and I think I might have seen that in the mag. It looks familiar to me. Thanks for the post.

Here's a good "offset" to "backspace" conversion chart.

Looks like a little over 5.5" backspace.
Should work.
I don't know about the center hole of the Jeep wheels.
(size)
Depends how close the aftermarket wheels copy the Jeep design.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Thanks Keith. it's going to be close. My buddy has a set that he is selling so Monday night I am going over to see if they will bolt up. Not sure about the center bore.
Another ques -- do you think 305/35/20 would fit on a 20x9 wheel. I personally think they might be a tad wide for that wheel.

I also could just machine out the hub if it's to small. I had to do that on my wheels for my old caliber srt aftermarket wheels.

Probably a little wide, in my opinion.
Cool wheels on certain trucks.
Not sure it works with the patina'd paint theme.

I've always wanted to take a set of Coys and beadblast the finish off,... and give them a satin brushed finish with a scotchbrite pad.
I'm not sure how they would turn out,... but that's been in my head for a long time.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

That would look cool with the coys. I had my heart set on the boss 338's but after seeing them on every truck and car at the goodguys and nationals. The thing is these are cheap and my wife has a jeep commander that I will get in a year or so and these might go on that with a lift. We will see though. If I bolt them up and think it looks stupid I will be going a different direction.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Well guys. its a sad day.. I sold my truck. I posted it on Craigslist and a guy came within a day and paid me cash. I feel I got a fair deal on it. The guy got a great truck. really just needs some finishing but I was tired of having to park outside and I really dont have the time and money to finish the truck. I am going to just focus on the harley. I might be looking at another truck soon but for now I am truckless.

I have a ton of parts I will be listing on the board soon.. including.. ccp notch, cpp motor mounts, hedman headers small block ceramic coated new, new edelbrock intake manifold, Porterbuilt crossmember, AC dash stereo patch, rust free roof, adjustable track arm, and whatever else I can dig up.
