Taking a project from conception to completion is time-consuming, to say the least. Nice documentation of a neat project. Nailing the compound angles and contours is commendable. Congrats.

Thanks. I'm actually going to tear into the rear corners again (along with the rear pillars). They're driving me nuts. I'm going to try to find some stepside fender corners (anyone? Bueller? anyone?) and graft those in... it's really the only way I'm going to get the shape I'm trying for.

I'm also going to hack out the outer edge of the rear stake posts and weld in some quarter-round tubing. Problem with doing this is that the stake post is not straight... it's got a couple of slight kinks in it, so doing the round edge is going to be tricky.

As for the rest of the bed, I've got to weld on the fenders (they're welded on at the steps and at the rear body line metalwork area that I added, but the main seam is still free). I've also got to get a floor in it (it's leaf season and I hate making runs to the dump in the Tahoe!... this is a "work" truck, after all

). But, I don't have any plans to cover the top of the bed. If I do that, it'll be completely inaccessible without tipping up, or removing the top since there's no tailgate. We'll see.

Actually, I'm not. Those are leftovers from a short stint in Wichita. I live in CO, but haven't caught up with the tax man on getting the plates switched over. Actually, I thought I was going to have to jump through microscopic flaming hoops because I couldn't find my VIN plate... but I stumbled across it in one of my parts boxes, and it's now on the truck. Unless they balk at the $0.02 rivets I used (I doubt it), I'll be properly tagged in a few weeks.

Well, per my diatribe above... I don't feel like I've quite nailed it. But, I appreciate the compliment nonetheless

BTW, the tan part just under the license plate is a buck I created to hammer out a tailpipe. I've decided to complement the taillights with a single exhaust that tucks up under the license. I've got the notch marked out but I haven't actually cut the pan yet, so it will actually tuck up a little tighter when I do. The tip will be approx. 15.5" x 1.5" with round ends (the taillights are 12" x .75"). Here's a pshop of the concept.

BTW, this is why the truck can never actually be finished

This was a late catch for me, so I could read through the entire process from start through primer.
I HATE welded-in tailgates!
But I have to admit that you pulled it all together with the controlled lines down the sides and then right on around the back end.
I love the way the lines just flow on around--- and you did such good planning that it all fits.
I do still want to watch you bring me two yards of driveway gravel and shovel it out... j/k

Ze tip is now mounted and plumbed. It's hard-mounted to the bed to ensure it's always got the right gap from the body, and then flex-fitted back to the exhaust pipe so it doesn't get in a bind.
