Yes my pops painted it out front, I actually live in Moreno Valley not Riverside so its not nearly as squeezed together as riverside is. Plus I live in a culdesac so its been fine so far just no painting on windy days.

Finally carputer- Haha I just built a new computer recently after my old video card (6800 ultra) fried. I took those components and rebuilt a new pc for the car. One thing to keep in mind is the thing thats so damaging about bumpy roads is the arms hitting the platters. While this is a problem with your generic PC Hard Drives. Laptop Hard Drives spin slower and are designed with the intention of being bounced around, ive got an older 2.5" HD for the Carputer in hopes that will prevent problems.
maybe you get more luck when you mount the harddisk straight up so the arm just moves up and down instead of on the platters

Re: 55 project thread

So I got the truck all tuned and running good. I think I killed the fuel gauge again- Dunno what thats all about just stopped working again. Took her around the block a couple times then let my brother take it out. I was expecting him to go down the street and back up I guess he had other ideas-

ill post the video in a couple mins once it finished uploading

Here is how it turned out after he got done haha!

Re: 55 project thread

I haven't posted in a long time, school has just started calming down a bit so ive started working on my truck again. Ive made a bit of progress The rollpan really didnt fit to well so I went ahead and just began welding the whole bed together into 2 pieces "Bed" and "Tailgate". The tailgate will still be functional I have a tailgate latch mechanism from another truck I think I can alter to work for me. I also decided to make the bed floor out of steel, ive finished the framework for it I just need to finish welding the actual floor to the framework. I will probably run some bead rolls through it. I like the wood but dont like the idea of not being able to put anything I want into the bed so I figure I can make a frame for a wood top which I can always just lay down on top of the steel bed floor and then for times of not wanting "Wood" I can store it in a nice dry place where it wont deteriorate hehe.

Ive also been contemplating buying a "Gear Vendors" overdrive, if anyone has any relevant opinions/suggestions on either the gear vendors overdrive or even if you know of different similar products please let me know.

Re: 55 project thread

I looked into the Gear Vendor's unit myself. Everything I read on it says it is a very good product. The deciding factor for me was the price tag. Owch! Truck's looking good man!

Re: 55 project thread

the 4L80E with the compushift isnt exactly cheap either but you can make it a manual capable to hold up to quite a bit of abuse

Re: 55 project thread

here are some new pics

beginnings of a console

Here is the original door, I am almost done repairing the lower door skin

ive been working on the bed for a while now getting it all level and smoothed out. You can see the roll pan fits very well now compared to how it originally fit

There was pretty extensive damage on the section where the rear fenders bolt together with the steps. After playing around with some sheetmetal and trying to make patch panels I finally decided to just weld the fenders and steps together.

Ive got a tailgate cover ordered through brothers it is going to be the embossed bowtie. Instead of a wood floor im going to make the floor out of steel to make it more of a functional bed. This might change I havent decided for sure yet.
