Door latch

I have a problem I don't understand. Sometimes my drivers door will not latch tight. It does latch on the safety(?) position. Repeatedly closing it will not get it to close tight. If I pull up on the interior handle and then spin the little gear thingy on the door latch, it will usually close. Sometimes I have to do this several times to get the door to close tight. Then the problem doesn't show up again for a week---month---longer. Anybody know what I need to replace? Thanks in advance. Sometimes I don't know what I'd do without this board. Larry

Sounds like it may be worn. If you find that it is, I have a used set for sale, $20. If you're interested, email me. Maybe a good oiling will fix it.

My latches were totally warn out when I first got my truck. I couldn't lock my doors.

I got a set of new latches from Brothers and replaced them. My passenger side door didn't close well, so I had to shim the lower hinge to get the door to line up right. You may have to do the same amount of shimming to get it to fit.

Mine does that - but only if my inside latch isn't completely down.

Thank you all for the info. I am going to try another latch I have in my junk box and see if it helps. I may be interested in the good pair you offered. I notice it helps if I push down on the inner handle. Thanks again. Larry
