Re: Newbie with a 69 CST/10 long bed

Well an update. long story short, some detective work turns up that this could be the original engine. Business partner of the 2nd owner recalls asking for the engine to be overhauled in 93 or 94. Owner may have been mistaken on the crate motor info. I shot the pictures. can someone tell me definitively if I have a matching #'s truck? I know it is not always cut and dried.
Also can someone explain brown seat and dash with black door panels and headliner? Thanks for the help

A picture won't help...unless it is of the front, passenger side of the engine where the block is horizontally revealed just past and in front of the head and just to the left of the water pump.
That small surface is where the engine stamping information would be and it would include year, engine size, when/where manufactured, type of truck, etc.
OR...you could go clean that surface off and post up the alpha-numeric info and we could help you out that way.

All Good

Re: Newbie with a 69 CST/10 long bed

Coley detailed it best. kinda what i was hinting at but he did a much better job of detailing it.
As far as the 307, i personally am not a fan of 307, but BUT if you need to figure out what you want, original rebuild or modify. modify will allow you to alter things easily, but original can be very cool. The original factory AC is awesome. so just a few more things you need to figure out.
Good luck, best thing is that you have a great start!

I posted 2 pictures. Left rear drivers side above bell housing. And right passenger vertical near water pump. Am I missing something?

Looks great. I would like to hear more about how you got or where you bought the wheels, and what size tires those are.

Wheels are Chevy truck Rallys. Ebay find. Refurbished (painted/polished) with new caps and lugs. The guy restores vintage wheels plus does some ground up restorations on what seemed to me all Chevys. Tires are Cooper Cobras 275/60r15. Struggled with size (255/70 was other consideration). I like tall trucks too. But I decided this one will be lowered (my first). So I went with the lower profile. I was 100% BFG but, availability and impatience put me in the Cobras. Saved a few hundred and If i decide I like a tall truck more, it will be easily reversed, with not much loss on the tires.

What a great truck to begin your journey with. I personally like the direction you are going (wheels) and doing basics before appearance(drop). Enjoy it and keep us posted!
