Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!

I was given the go-ahead to bid on this '48 on ebay. I almost won it too. I was only out bid by 39K. It ended with 20 bidders, price tag at $40,100.00 and the reserve was not met.

Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!

Here's the 54 I just picked up this past Monday. It's already got a Camaro front clip with disk brakes and a Camaro rear with a four link tack welded in, already set up for a SBC with turbo 350 trans with a driveshaft already made up. It was sandblasted about a year ago and put up in a pole barn.

I've been working on my 63, getting the bodywork done, but it looks like that's gonna be put on hold now so I can get started on this one. I'm gonna be working on this one with my best friend who is a hellava body/paint man and he wants to get started on it soon.

Once I get it in the garage and get the cab off and get started, I'll post progress in a build thread. This one's gonna be a "fix up and sell" project. And, since this is my most aggressive build so far, and my first 47-54, I'll be asking you guys lots of questions. (dumb questions, you ready?)

Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!

56 B/W short bed 283 with turbo 400. Straight axle with power steering. 5 lug. A driver. Purchased locally and I won't tell you how much, you wouldn't believe. Have a 81 Pontiac TA donor car for sub-frame and 12 bolt with 4whl disc. Donor truck from one of my sons' friends gave me the 92 350 TB and 700R4 to complete the transition.

Re: Post pics of your 47-59 Chevy trucks!

Hello from Alaska, I picked up this 56 original 1/2 ton Napco 4X4 a few months ago. I'm getting ready to take it down to the frame and upgrade a few things and get it painted. Picking a color is driving me crazy. What's the etiquette for copying another dudes color? CAL58's prowler orange is awesome. And Im thinking about a green similar to 1sik52's. Its going to be tough. I will keep you all posted once I get started. (just had back surgery yesterday so it will be awhile) This is my first post and I want to thank you all for the inspiration and great information you so freely pass on in a positive fun manner.

Welcome. That truck appears to be in extraordinary shape for being in Alaska. I was in Anchorage a couple of years ago and seemed like every vehicle more that 3-4 years old that was used during the winter was visibly rusting out. As to copying colors I have no problem with it, Cal and 1sik52 probably got their inspiriation from cars or trucks they saw, I can think back to the 60's & 70's when the red-orange and green metalics were popular (look a the factory colors). It is your truck do what you wish with it.
