Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes the Eldorado rotors could have been used when designing these brackets, but I was wanting to use a rotor that could be found in a wrecking yard. The Astro/Safari vans are fairly plentiful in the wrecking yards. The '76-'79 Eldorado's are not. I know that new rotors are not that expensive, but sometimes a guy needs to be resourceful. Also the long term availability of the Eldorado rotors may be hard to predict. The Astro/Safari rotors are slightly larger in diameter than the Eldorado rotors.

The Eldorado master cylinder should work just fine with most GM boosters. If you happen to find an Eldorado in a wrecking yard, grab the proportioning valve also.

sorry not trying to pick your brain just trying to see if theres more options

I picked up all the Eldo parts at PullAPart but have been holding off because I want to retain my 6-bolt pattern. A bore and sleeve at White Horse and they'll be better than new.

Yes they are......in fact I just got another order of laser and plasma cut parts for them earlier this week.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I received your payment today. I will get those shipped out on Monday.

You do realize that the D52's are the only caliper that will bolt up to these brackets, right?

Was there ever a solution to the pad rubbing the rotor hat issue? Mine are scoring pretty hard...

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I have not had that issue with what I have mocked up here. One other customer has had that issue, but he has not gotten back to me with the measurement I need to determine what needs to be done to correct the situation. I don't want to just move the caliper out farther, and have the pads hanging past the outer edge of the rotor, if I don't have to. I just need someone to help me out with the measurement I need.

I don't have a pic of the dimension I need, on this computer. I will get it from my shop computer tomorrow and post it here.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Here is a pic showing the dimension I need from those that have had a brake pad to rotor hat interference issue. Once I know what you have I can make the necessary change, and get you a set of brackets to correct the issue.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes, that is the measurement I need. Yours may or may not measure 3.5182. Once I know what yours measures, I can have a set made that will solve the pad rubbing issue.

Question Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Will these parts work with the D52 brackets? Just checking before I order them.

ROTORS:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/eb...ro?prefilter=1

CALIPERS with ebrake:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aa...model/eldorado

I know i will have to get one for the passenger side and one for the driver side but I wanted to make sure I had the right ones.

Thanks guys!

Got me some astro van rotors but they are way to thick for my Eldo calipers. Has anyone had this problem?

Do you have the '76-'78 calipers? Which pads do you have?

Rotor Initial Thickness (mm): 32.70

Rotor Overall Depth (mm): 83

Wearever Silver Brake Pads - Rear

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Did you check to see if the shaft is rotated as to engage the parking brake function of the caliper. If not you might try turning the shaft coming out of the back of the caliper. A box end wrench or a deep socket should work to grab it. I just don't remember what size off hand.

The parking brake is not engaged. The caliper piston is all the way back. The rotor will not fit with the brake pads installed. My rotors are 1.29" thick. Have you ever heard of this issue before? What is the inside width of your calipers and how thick are the brake pads you are using?

Do you have a part number for the D52 AND THE D122 pads you purchased? I will just go buy the exact same ones and hope for the best.

I bought both sets of pads from O'Reilly's. The Brake Best part numbers are MKD52 and D122
