Dome light switches were an option, but were included in cheyenne and cheyenne super. Not sure about custom deluxe.

Re: '71 Owners

I believe that the vent on the driver door jamb was related to the EEC system. For those that have the vent were your trucks originally EEC style fuel systems? Its just a thought. I was reading through my service manual and found some where that what what the vent was for. I have an early 72, with the vent and believe that the mid to late 71's was when the EEC was put into production. Please correct me if im wrong.

Sounds plausible but what would it do? And only 1/2 tons had EEC so I doubt it.

I didn't know it was 1/2 ton only. I will look tonight to see what the factory service manual says about. I was quoting from memory.

Re: '71 Owners

Come to think about it,the 71 doesn't have the canister on the fender but the 72 does. I think this is because of the fuel venting, doesn't it?
The 72's fuel pump has 3 lines and my 71 has 2.Check the fuel lines, possibly?

Re: '71 Owners

My GMC has this vent. The paperwork I have shows it was ordered 9/19/1970 (dealer order sheet) and the owner took delivery 2/4/1971 on invoice and Protectoplate).
The cab has the raised area for rear view mirror.
Not sure what the EEC is- so not sure what to look for.
Where do I look for build location?

Re: '71 Owners

EEC is the evaporative emission control system (charcoal can) mounted around the battery tray. My truck had a smog pump originally as well. I'm still looking for an answer in my service manual

Mine is a late '71. Red with white top, no A/C, has the vents and the bump for the mirror. Built in Flint.

OK, let's add some more to it...

My '71 1/2 ton 4x4 A/C truck had one. Don't know much more about the truck though (sold it right after I finished it)
