Fuel Tank Behind The Seat

Have ya'll had any problems with alot of built up air inside the fuel tank? Is this something that I need to be concerned about or just normal.

Except for the "Danger-Is-My-Business" aspect of leaning back against 22 gallons of highly flammable-explosive fluid, it's really a good set-up. The fuel pours into the tank fast with no problems. No air build up. You should have self-venting gas cap. It wasn't until '71-'72 that GM went with a gastank vent that vented out the door pillar for emission reasons. I had a Sub and have a K/5 and I always have to burp the flat tanks to get them to take enough gas. Fuel feed is sometimes a problem when the tank is in the rear, I have found. Never a problem from cab-mounted tank. You do want to avoid roll-overs or long skids down the freeway on the left side, but I fail to see the attraction of putting a tank where my spare is. Where would I put that? Never a problem on a show truck, but some of us work for a living and a working truck is part of that life.
By the way -- welcome aboard.

I replaced my original chrome gas cap with a locking cap from NAPA. Removing either one always caused a whoosh when it loosened. I guess it was just making room for the sucking sound that followed when I put gas in it.

HaHaHa!! I can relate....

I also have a NAPA locking cap, but it seems to be well vented. No whoosh.....

Before you go to far off the kilter here, my truck is a daily driver and I relocated the gas tank to the spare spot. I don't carry a spare, but I do carry a 2 year old little girl in the truck and feel much safer with the gas tank out of the cab with her in the cab. Some might argue that it hangs too low. I will tell you that in my opinion a newer jeep cherokee and wrangler have tanks that hang much lower than these tanks do. There is plenty of cushion between the back bumber of the truck and the tank also. I don't have a spare, but my insurance has free roadside and towing and I also keep a large can of fixaflat. On the very rare occasion that I might get a flat and need to have it fixed, I will take a little inconvenience over safety any day.
