Randy & c-1072-
Don't know how involved you want to get in cutting this apart......but the one I did last summer I cut with a sawzall along the red line (exact same measurements on both donor and reciepient) Used a 10" saw blade and cut was lots straighter than I can draw . Then took the dash out-that plate sticking up with the red arrow pointing to it is held in by the bolts that go thru the sides of the dash.....with those bolts out a guy can simply slide the old out and new in. Then put the bolts back in,(and I had the top on)-the bolts will hold it together while you weld it back together. Can't tell where the splice was on mine-and worked really good. Only wish I had taken pics of this.....but was too excited to get her back together! Let me know if I can help! -Galen.

......forgot to add-when cutting, only cut the outside metal (if that makes sense?) That plate is way over on the other side by the dash-and extends about 8-10" down from the cut line-so you won't get it by accident-but if you keep sawing all that work will be for nothing! Damn-why did'nt I take some pics!?! (and save a thousand words).

It will be the weekend before I can try anything, Galen so just cut the outside over to that plate on both sides, then take the bolts out of the dash and it will all slide out? Do I have to take the dash all the way out? Trying to make sure I understand. Thanks Randy

Yes-I think there are some spot welds involved on the inside.....I'll take some pics before this weekend. Only reason a guy did it this way-I was'nt too sure about my welding skills-and all the splices are covered by the cowl and doors. Plus having that plate to bolt in kind of takes the guesswork out of alignment.....

Randy-If you're not going to save the dash-just go to town with the saw! Stay below the bottom of the dash, below the bolt hole for the front fender, and just slice the dash. C-1072 will be able to "perform surgery" and trim it to fit. I'm no expert,or bodyman......this is just what worked for me. Wish a guy was closer-

-the red line is where I cut and spliced.....if you stay below the dash you'll miss that plate inside.
