Ok...I hope I'm not the first one to think about this...but...

What is an "engine lift stop kit"?

Is that basically what they used to do when they "chained" and engine down to the frame to keep it from tourqing up to much?

YEPPERS, Exactly what it was for, just a factory version instead of a home
made bubba enginered one, I was intrigued by it because it was made for
trucks that had A/C as an option, oh yea, and because it's a NOS part.

Not sure if it is the same guy selling all of them but for a few months there was a new auction on ebay for those things just about every week. My 69 has that setup, sounds like it is a recall type of thing.

Could be the same guy, looked like a rare / pretty cool conversation piece

back in the 70s we used to use chain the engine down to the frame for torque from the left side of the motor
my buddy did his on the wrong side it was funny when we were at cruize nite and someone pointed out to him

I bought one of those too, but I thought that it was for Non-AC, and it turned out to be for an A/C truck. I'm willing to sell it if someone's interested? It's NOS, but I opened it to make sure everything was there as it looked like it was opened before.

IIRC those are a recall item. GM had a problem with the motor mounts failing, so this was a 'precaution.'

yes, a recall item. Some dealers used chains, others used cables. There were many part numbers used as the cars got this type of band aid fix for poor motor mounts.
I have the recall paper work from my old blue longhorn.

Good deal. I have that installed on my 69 C20 w/350/350. I don't see very many on trucks in the junk yards out here. Mine was installed long before I purchased the truck. Can't be very many left NOS. Good score.

Well, whether or not it works is not my concern , and since it was
a recall item maybe most of them were destroyed and it's sorta rare,
never the less, I'm pleased with it, make a good conversation piece.

Great item. Can you post or copy the instructions when you get them? I would like to install a set on my Longhorn. I have heard about them and seen them but have not seen the instructions on how to install them properly, according to the General.

Stllookn, Will do, there are 3 set-ups in that kit, one for A/C,
one for no A/C, and a third one that I am not sure about.

Was a recall item, the motor mounts were failing and when the motor torqued unde accelleration, the rod type pedal would hang in the wide open position, thus the need for a stop lift. Don't know if they used them on BB but they work great as a safety/ neat option. They are one of those things that got trashed over the years.

My truck had one on it as well. Still have it somewhere. New motor mounts dont need them as they have an interlock system built into the mount should the rubber come apart. My 68 impala had the old mounts on it when i got it. No recall kit, and yes when you started to accelerate the motor would roll over pulling the mechanical throttle rod. Weird feeling having the pedal disappear out from under your foot. Car would floor board itself and just take off. The 2 times it happened to me I had to grab the tranny lever and put her in neutral.. this took the tq off and the motor dropped back into place.

For you Young'ins--this recall and problem went all the way back to Chevy's in 58'. You could rev it up with the hood open and watch the motor lift it's self due to faulty motor mounts. It probably killed people so the fix is a good one---and one I would use if I had it. Wonder if it's still available from GM---free???
