Would side exhausts stop rocker rust?

I was wondering if the heat from running side exhausts would dry/evaporate any trapped moisture in the rockers?

What are your thoughts on this?

PS: Can't help but love the sound of side exhausts- gee the 70's were good weren't they? Lots of cars with side exhausts.....

Adding duals to my`90 started a rust area on the side w/o a heat shield,if that helps.
