Do you have a fire extinguisher?

Every shop should have an extinguisher and you should know how to use it before the need arises! Have it close by during any welding ,grinding or other hot work. Any visitors to your shop who are working should be made aware of where your extinguisher is located. It's also a good idea to stow one in your ride. It should be located where it is unobstructed and reachable from the drivers seat while buckled in. Last but not least you MUST have one in your home if you don't have one anywhere else. A fire extinguisher is cheap insurance for your greatest investments. Your LIFE and the lives of your loved ones.

Amen!

The fire extinguisher I kept in my Nova saved it earlier this year. A blown tranny cooler line sprayed atf onto the headers and within seconds my engine bay was nothing but flames....I reacted quickly and grabbed the fire extinguisher mounted in between the front seats and put it out before any major damage was done.
Back in high school I watched a friends 68 cutlass burn to the ground due to faulty wiring....there are few situations when I have felt more helpless.
A good fire extinguisher is cheap insurance

Absolutely...
In may I stopped by the local shop that rebuilt my carb. I had just gotten the carb and paid for it when the owner's son had put his '57 Chevy up on the lift and was draining the gas. He had a plastic drum approc 2 feet below the tank, the bucket was sitting on a wood pallet on top of a trans jack. I was standing 3 feet away when POOF! the stream lit, probably from static. He jumped back, knocking over the bucket, with flaming gas going all over the floor. The guys were unable to locate the fire extinguisher and the whole place went up, taking their 57 chevy, Model A Ford and house on top of the garage with it. I was able to dial 911 with my cell phone. Nobody was seriously injured, but they lost everything. I'm now VERY cautious with gas and always keep an extinguisher nearby, as well as one in each of my vehicles. I feel horrible for their loss and wish I had not been witness to it.
Always know where your extinguisher is at all times.

Re: Do you have a fire extinguisher?

I have one in the shop, and it's kinda funny because we just had our yearly
refresher training today, but I was getting ready to order 1 for my Blammy.
Gonna spend the extra cheese to get a aviation one since they do not use
dry chem like most of them on the market. I always had 2 in my Firechick'n
when I competed in USAC and IASCA in case of a electrical fires. (1F & 1B)

Re: Do you have a fire extinguisher?

Yep - one for the truck, one for the shop, one for the boat and another in the kitchen in the house. I find the slower I run, as the years go by, the more I buy. Keep them "current" and have one set away from your truck when you're firing off after fuel line work.

Just say'in........
