My Soon to Be New Toy

I am in the process of building me a 4x4 Buggy. I have a freind of mines buggy to use as a template. Mine will be made to sit 4 people instead of 2. His has a 454, 4 speed tranny, 205 transfer in it. I think that a 454 is overkill but it is alot of fun. Here is a pic of his and a couple of mine so far. Most parts are either from a 73-87 4X4 or fabed by me at home or work. I will keep updated as I get more done.

Re: My Soon to Be New Toy

Looks like a tought foundation. Just a quick question? Why are you going with a stock GM rear spring hanger? You mounted it low for lift by the looks of it, but it looks like it's killing your departure angle. I'd go swipe the front spring hanger for the rear springs and mount it in place of that one so you end op with a shackle flip. The hanger will be higher on the frame and your lift amount will still be about the same (if not a little more).

Just a thought!

Re: My Soon to Be New Toy

Some updates

I dont plan on leaving the front end mounted as it is now. I am going to get a set of six inch lift springs when I get the extra money so for now I made some longer shackles and braces to lower it and make the frame sit level.

ZOOMAD75
I would have mounted the rear spings that way if i would have thought about it. I have them welded on so good now I dont even want to think about trying to cut them off.

The bender belongs to a freind of mine. He got it at one of the tool sales that come around every now and then but i have seen them on ebay and a few other places. It is a simple thing to use just have a few extra pieces of pipe to practice with.

Dude! Those are some serious jackstands you got going there! Not to mention the rack by the wall that's holding complete axle housings several feet from the floor. I would blow an a$$hole gasket trying to get something in or out of that rack!

Re: My Soon to Be New Toy

The stands and the rack are some of the bennefits of working in a steel fab shop and getting steel cheep. I use the cherry picker to load and unload the axles in the rack.

Congrats, sir.

That is absolutely the worst attempt at building a buggy I have EVER seen.

Do you have any idea what the word, "Triangulation" means?
