Tool box in the bed info.

Pics are from Run to the Sun Car Show-Myrtle Beach, SC. Pics are also from another site. Claim is "only 400 made with right-hand side box". Any info?

Re: Tool box in the bed info.

Maybe he meant only 400 cheyenne supers were made that year with the tool box? I might believe that...... but how would you even find that out?

Re: Tool box in the bed info.

some one wants his truck to be rare.

The tool box was in fact a lower production number... 6% of 72 trucks (LWB 10 and 20...both c and k, pluss 20 and 30 longhorns) Only 2% of the tucks made in 72 were supers.
So the Super is more rare than the box.
Plugging numbers in... there were 394,973 long/fleets & Longhorns built in the model year 72. 6% of that is about 23,698.... a tad over 400.

Re: Tool box in the bed info.

23698 * 2% = 474

Could be what he meant?

Re: Tool box in the bed info.

First thing I`d tell him is,that`s a Cheyenne Super not a Super Cheyenne. Then,I`d want to see the VIN-spec sheet.Next,I`d ask where he got his info. Also,I`d ask if that source lists how many Supers came w/o side mouldings and houndstooth seatcovers.,After that,I`d let him know that unless a truck is authentic, unmolested, and all original that stuff doesn`t really matter. Finally,I`d tell him it`s a damn nice looking truck.

Re: Tool box in the bed info.

Travis, that number isn't acurate either.... you have to figure in some more trucks before you can figure the number for cheyenne equipped trucks...
With all the cab/chassis trucks, and all the step side trucks, you'll have to add 61988 to the 394,973 fleetsides, for a grand total of 456,961 built with the cheyenne package avalible.
2% of that is rounded to 9139 cheyenne supers.

Hmmm, I didn't even think of burbs or blazers.... but I don't think it came on burbs...

bah, who cares, this cat was pulling numbers out of his ass. There's absolutly no way of telling how many cheyennes, or cheyenne super... if it is a super, came with the tool box onless it is a canadian truck.

Re: Tool box in the bed info.

Are there any more pictures?
Has anyone called the number?

There are a few things 'not right' as special K pointed out.

Re: Tool box in the bed info.

It were gonna be picky they sure did a crappy job aligning that toolbox door but the door gaps appear to be very well done

Even with the GM of Canada Records I don't think you'll be able to get a number of how many cheyenne supers had a particular option # (i.e. - tool box door), pretty sure it just a generic model # quanity. At least in the resto packet that they send you for the $48 CDN.
