Take a book of matches, and at every meal, rip the head off of one and eat it.
Sounds sick huh?
I learned this one in Korea, and it actually woirks a little. (still need some spray, but not as bad)
The sulpher in the match head comes out of your pores and the cent drives the bugs away. And I never noticed my room mate stinking from it, nor did he notice I smelling funny.
There are also those little garlic capsules, but you'll smell funny and every time you burp, even just a little, everyone will smell it.

The little paper ones..free at most hotels and gas stations.
They don't make you sick, but the taste stays in your throat, that is the only reason I say take with food. At a minimum, take with fluids to help it down.
In case you don't know...Korea has a real bad mosquito problem and they are known to carry maylaria there too. We had to take all kinds of pills and stuff like that. I still have no idea what the side effects are on some of the medications they gave me...kinda like the Anthrax shots I got....no one really knows.

You might try REPEL insect repellent. It has 29% Deet in it. Anytime I need to work outside I use it and they do not seem to bother with me. You end up smelling like spray but its better then getting eaten alive.

Deet is the only stuff that works. Get the stuff with the highest amount of deet in it and apply every few hours.

We're having a huge mosquito problem down here, so there have been a lot of articles in the paper. They all say that same thing- go with the highest percentage of deet. They actually did a bunch of tests, and said that the Deep Woods Off was one of the best.

lol This will sound strange but it work. Take garlic. There are little tablets that you take before going outside and it actually works for more things than mosquitos... pretty much most insects

Question

What is a Mosquito .
THis is a post fromanother forum I frequent from a member in Texas..??

Blood sucking B52 Bombers that come in a dark swarm to eat you alive.

Fact: They can be so heavy in an area that it has been reported that they have suffocated cattle.

Fact: Some breeds of this flying insect carry many dangerous diseases that can be transferred to humans and animals if bitten.

Fact: The worse mosquitoes in Texas are located in the Coastal Marshlands, these suckers hurt when bitten.

Fact: Clute Texas has mosquitoes so bad they have a Mosquito Fest every year.

White vinegar is supposed to be a natural repellant, but deet is the best I've used.

I just read about this one in yesterdays paper. I didn't believe it would work, but I used my wife this morning as the "test subject" and she came back bite free after an hour picking raspberries this morning. The mosquito repellant was a Bounce fabric softener sheet. She clipped it to the bill of her cap and it worked. They buzzed around but never landed.

I used to tease her about purposely hiding a sheet in a pants leg of my dress clothes just so it would fall out at the worst time possible. Here she was just trying to save me from mosquitos.

Your concern in this matter is well-founded. There has been some news about mosquitos carrying the West Nile virus in Canada now. Mostly in places like Ontario, I don't know about western Canada...yet.

I heard they are attracted to colors like dark blue. They are also attracted to carbon dioxide, so try not to breathe, lol. When I was in my teens I used to go fishing with my father in Ontario. Out on the water mosquitos weren't quite so bad, but near shore they were nasty. My father always carried a few cigars and we would both light up to keep the pesky buggers away.

I think this is a question that the ol dubie man can field, seeing how I live in one of the worst mosquito infested places. The best thing you can use is Deep Woods OFF. That is the best stuff on the market to rid your skin of the pesky little f@$%ers.

Southpa, there are now 6 cases of west nile virus in Manitoba. The wife, kids and I were travelling into southern Manitoba for a wedding a few weeks ago and noticed a lot of dead ravens. I have travelled this same stretch of highway many many times and never seen one. But this time we saw 14 dead ravens, and not one of them was flattenned by a vehicle. So right then and there I knew something was going on. West Nile effects ravens, blue and gray jays, and a couple other birds and is transmitted by mosquitos.

I really wish they would spray around here for mosquitos. We get tons of them. So if anyone plans a vacation into the far northern depths of Canada, be sure to bring lots of bug repelant.

I have found that Deep Woods Off as mikej71 mentioned worked well for the tics and skeeters on the farm in Arkansas.
I think its the one in the green can.

They say that anything with over 30% Deet is bad for you. There is some stuff that's made by Watkins that has about 20 something % Deet so it's in the acceptable range & will help with the skeeters, I don't remember what it's called but it's by Watkins.

Amway HourGuard12, but you have to put up with the Amway sales people. (No offense.)

When I went fishing in Canada this is what the guides used. Great for mosquitos and black flies. Consumer reports rates this and deep wood off as best.
