Re: Came home today

lower it maybe 4/6, turn it into a shortbed, 295/50-15 on 10" all around.Power steering, power disk brakes both ends. want to paint it Chevy Orange. I have a fresh 350 that will go in for now but want to build a stout 383. Still undecided about the trans but it will be an auto. Lots more. Not a show truck just a nice driver. I can't wait. I am a little bit older so the big wheels haven't grown on me yet.

Re: Came home today

too much stuff, I thought it looked like a 68 but my friend who gave it to me says it is a 67 he has had it for about 20 years. I haven't had time to really check into it but I will.
Jack

What would be the easyest way to tell the year? It has the option sheet on the glovebox so maybe that says. He hasn't gave me the title yet to look at.

Re: Came home today

'67 had no side markers in the fenders. '68 did. In '67, the large rear window was an option, should be listed on the glove box label. In '68 the big window was stock. I've also seen some '67's with black and silver painted glove box lids, made up to look like the gauge cluster. '68 was painted body color.

My dad's truck said it was a '72 on the title, but the truck was actually a '71. Maybe he thought the truck was a '67, or maybe the former owner got confused. He could have mistaken for 20 years; the truck is almost 40 after all.

If you do a search on VIN decoding, you should be able to cross reference your VIN with the threads on this board, and it'll tell you exactly what year it is. Either that, or somebody else will know what VIN digit equals what year.

the year on the title thing means nothing , but it is something that happens most of the ones I have seen were either very early in a year or very late , thats why you see the truck's for sale in magazines with a 67 listing but in the picture it looks like a 68 , it's nothing to worry about ,,, just one of them thangs ,,

Re: Came home today

The model year for vehicle manufacturers is different than the actual calendar year. That's why you're seeing those "brand new 2007's" out right now. They change over, I believe, in July. Thus if a Chev truck was built in 8/67, it's a '68 model.

Re: Came home today

Geez, I'm suprised no one has asked him this yet......

What is the fifth digit of the VIN? 7 = model year 1967, 8 = model year 1968.

Re: Came home today

Wolf is dead on, these titles that say 67 for a truck built 11/67 (or what ever) with side markers and a big window... the title is wrong. That was sold, and for parts ID (and even by the VIN) it is a 68. Like was mentioned, just like the 2007 Suburban the guy at work just got last week. EXACT same thing.
