Blazer Value over the years and selling ?'s

I've got a 72 4x4, that I put up for sale. What I did to ballpark the value/price of it to sell is looked at others on EBAY, here, and even other websites/magazines. I was thinking I had the price in the right range, but have since lowered it to help the process.

The PO I purchased from had the Blazer appraised 5 years ago. I've since done a few more value increasers (obviously not in everyones opinion). Wouldn't a Blazer in the last 5 years typically appreciate as long as the condition were maintained or improved?

I realize part of this process may just be waiting for the right buyer to come along. Your input is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Blazer Value over the yearsand selling ?'s

Blazers have appreciated quite a bit in the last 5 years.

1. Blazers have a "season". Selling a Blazer at the start of winter will prove to be much more difficult than selling one spring or summer.

2. The more valuable a collector car vehicle, the harder it can be to find the right buy.

3. Some modifications, no matter how beneficial, can lower the value. This is especially true if they appear to be done incorrectly, incomplete or by a backyard mechanic.

Since you are a paying member, you can post a "what's it worth" thread. I'm not exactly sure where those go now since the for sale section has changed to a classified format. You might PM a moderator like Krue to see where to post a "what's it worth" thread.

I've been on both ends of this lately, buying and selling, the right
buyer means everything, and they're seasonal, I have had better
luck not trying to sell them since I always get better offers when
I am wanting to keep them, detailed description and detailed pic's
of typical Blazer problem areas will help it sell more than anything.

value increasers?? generally for every thousand dollars you spend you increase the value by $50 or if you get real lucky $100

Re: Blazer Value over the years and selling ?'s

i think we're going to see alot more appriciation soon. This is just my opinion, but this is somthing that hit me yesturday as i was walking through the parking lot at a swapmeet.

I had to walk a long way and saw thousands of rigs. I obviously do a double take when i see a 67-72 rig. As i got to the ticket booth i thought to myself that i had just seen about 18 67-72 rigs. Then it hit me. Not a one was a blazer. I also thought about my commute to work everyday. I'll see 1/2 dozen or so 67-72 rigs on my way to and from work. 1 out of 100 might be a blazer and i think that is to high. Might be more like 1 out of 300.

Has anyone else noticed this?
I'm talking just first generations, cause i see alot of newer blazers.

Re: Blazer Value over the years and selling ?'s

Blazers are indeed rare beasts. They made less than 80,000 between 67-72. When you factor in how many have met there demise in on way or another, the numbers are greatly reduced. With every Blazer you see being parted out, rotting in a field, or cut up into a truggie, the value of the complete rigs goes up a little bit.

That being said, it is true that for every $1 you put into modifing a rig, your return is a fraction of that.

As for the stock market, in the last 5 years, the ROI on collector vehicles has amost doubled that of the stock market. Of course, this is problably refrering to the very rare, older and fully restored vehicles.

Re: Blazer Value over the years and selling ?'s

Best 'position' to be in when selling a blazer is when your NOT in dire need to sell it at that moment.
Take your time, be patient and have good documentation available.

As stated above, it can be a seasonal thing, the time to sell is spring when people are looking forward to summer IMO.

I just posted the what's it worth thread. Thanks for all of your help. I'm not desparate to sell it, but I certainly wouldn't mind sooner than later.
