HELP! This weekend I'm going to attempt to remove and replace my broken windshield. Can anyone suggest where to find tips on removing a windshield? Or, anyone here can offer a few tips. I'm assuming to remove I will have to cut the rubber around the glass. What about the chrome trim.. How does that come off? When replacing, they told me something about a nylon string, but I'm not exactly clear on how or what to do with it. Any tips here are appreciated. Thanks..

The best suggestion I can give is to find a professional whose done alot of older style windshields and pay him to do it. I've been involved with a couple replacement windshields and it's not worth the aggravation or frustration. They are a pain in the a$$. IMHO!

I have done it both ways. The last time I did it I did manage to break the brand new windshield. So I bought another one ($114 ouch). I have found that the 71-72 trim is harder to do than the earlier trim as the 71-72 does not have as deep a lip so it doesn't hold in as well.Found a company that travels and had them come and install second windshield.He did both front and back and it was only $100 for installation.He did it the same way I did the previous windshields. it's just kind of a crap shoot.For me it was worth the money to avoid the headaches and if I would have had them do it in the first place I would have been money ahead.

Hmmmm... that seems to be the general consensus..leave it up to a professional.. I think I will do that. I guess I was thinking it couldn't be much harder than replacing the WS on my Goat.
