I have my tail lights frenched into my tail gate(3" round,3 per side). Does anybody know what was used on the T birds,that let the rear blinkers flash in sequence?

It was also available in the '67 - '71 Cougar, and the Continantal of that same era.
If you open the trunk, and look in the drivers 1/4 panel area, there will be a mechanicl thingy in there with the wires going to the lights. That's what you want. I know that's where it was located on the cougar...not sure bout the others. (my first ride was a '68 Cougar)

someone in this area has a white 72 longfleet that he modified his taillights into red bulbs nly, no lenses or anything, but they arent sequential, i never knkew any cars had such a thing, whats a cougar that old even look like ?

Those early Cougar/Bird ones had a small electric motor that drove a small three lobe cam that operated three contacts, all this in a small box in the trunk. Hopefully they have something better than that in the after-market now.

Yup, exactly. However, I never saw one die. Every cougar i ever looked at had them working. I pulled the part out of a junk yard and installed it into a '69 mach one after putting dividers in the lens....pretty cool.
Here is a '67. Mine was a '68 which added a bug stupid steering wheel (crash pad) and side marker lights. Mine was light blue with a blue int. 302 with 4V heads, and a holley 600. Hard to find options included disc brakes (first year avaialble) A/C, and that 4bbl 4V engine. (only year available untill 85ish) 230 H/P. I also had a priviously undocumented cloth inserts on the seats. I wrot to Mustang and fast fords asking about it and they said I was craxy...IN PRINT! I sent a sample of the cloth (it was in threads) to them, they sent it to the top ford restorer, and he said it was lagit. So my old Cougar was the first one documented in the hobby industry to have said option!

Oh yeah, the hide away head lamps were controlled by engine vacume! After a couple weeks of not running it, they would slowly open up on there own!
'67 was the first year for production, base motor was the 2 bbl 289. It was essentually a luxury version of the mustang on a 111 inch wheel base (up from 97 inch) Other than that, most of the Mustang restoration parts are good for the Cougar.
This is honestly, one of my dream cars. They were available with big blocks starting in '68. (428 Cobra Jet) I still have my owners manual somewhere in storage.
*wheel base lenghts may be off a little, this was 10 years ago I was into the Ford thing*

Hey Fast, my favorite year for Cougars was the 1969 model. I owned a 69 Cougar convert in the late 70's that I still wish I had today. This pic is an Eliminator model. Still not a killer performance car, but plenty of fun.

For $10 somebody is selling plans to make the controls on Ebay. It might be worth it. Type in "sequential tail*" and you will find them.

Even though the '69 - 71 was a little sleaker, I still prefer the 67/68...probably becouse it was my first and almost 2nd cars.
The second was a beat up turd, stripped int, and thrashed passenger side (bolt on stuff ripped from a fire hydrant)BUT...this thing had the most wicked 351 Cleavland I have ever seen. The man handed me pictures of the time clocks, and also his time slips....12.05. This was a (ragged) street car! Idles in summer W/out overheating, didn't have a real high verter...(maybe a 2500 RPM) And a 750 Holley carb.
D@mn I shoulda spent the $$ on that car instead of my girlfriend. (now wife) I had the int and bolt on body parts from my first one in the basement.

You will love it when she rolls, those Caddy's are a nice mill. I had plans to build a 514 cad......but the wifey & I had a discusion over how much it cost.....something about things being done to excess! hehe!

Well, with repairs on the house & daily drivers, I went back to the sb Chev.....but im still doing things to excess! After all these yrs, I doubt that she will change the old man too much now......it too late! crazyL
