Re: rare barn find

Thats sweet. What is a 66? I want it, um I mean where did u find that. Looks like some ones atempt at a drag car. It seems it was a 4 speed car at one time due to the aftermarket shifter and small brake pedal. Thats a lot of holes in the firewall. Wonder where the light harness and spark plug wires had gotten to. I hope you get it. Then sell it to me keep us posted till someone gets mad that its a car not a truck.

Re: rare barn find

a true 138 66 chevelle all stock like that is worth a MINT !! the steering wheel in that is worth $500 buck's , if it had been a 396 375 instead of the 396 350 it would have been worth double , the auto take's off about $3K but car is still worth mid $20's like it is , great to see them like that ,,,

Arrow Re: rare barn find

66 and 67 chevelle's are the most prized , ad the SS option price go's up ad unbothered condition price jump's way up ! simulated wood wheel more $ the rear end that came in that car if it is still in it which I assume it is will be another price jumper it will be a 12 bolt posi , the only way that car could be better is if it was a 4spd 375 horse , it would sell at a show or swap meet that was chevelle oriented for around $20K just by washing it and hauling it there assuming the title and all is good , another thing that ad's more to the car's than it will with our truck's is the original paperwork like who sold it new and the warranty book's and prtecto plate which I would say those folk's may have , that is a highly desirable car !!

I agree it is a great find. Good luck getting her. We picked ours up last year with only 29K on the ticker (original) and it is a 138 4spd bench car. It is th ecar we used for our wedding and all our pics after! We got some great Black and whites.

Re: rare barn find

Iv'e been studying your pictures. It looks like a factory air car looking at the heater controls and the bracket on the passenger side of the block and the plate bolted onto the firewall behind the air cleaner. That is odd since it has standard steering and brakes. The brake pedal is narrow since it has just regular brakes. If it was power I think it would be wider. The car seems solid and uncut for the most part and is awesome to see. In 66 the 396's offered were 325, 360, and 375. It should still have the factory Holley on it. That motor is either the 325 or 360 horse. Did you by chance get the Vin #'s and all of the trim tag codes?

Re: rare barn find

That's a Very nice find. I'd go back there with cash. Wave a few $100 bills under their noses. The smell of fresh cash can do wonders for a deal.

Re: rare barn find

After closer inspection of the pics, I believe it was a 4spd car, look just below and to the right of the MC, looks like the remains of the clutch rod boot. If so, interesting combo, 4sp, AC non ps/pb car.

Re: rare barn find

That is really awesome! My 69 long bed is sitting out in a shed on my step dad's property as we speak. I've always wondered if anyone has driven by and checked it out. My truck has been sitting out there since May of 1999 when it lost compression and died on me driving back home from college. I haven't had the time or money to do anything about it since then, so it is just waiting for when I have both of those available. The truck was left to me by my Dad when he passed away, so it was a 2nd vehicle for me from the time I was 16-19. Since it wasn't my primary vehicle I could never afford to invest the money necessary to finish restoring it. Hopefully that will change in the next couple years.

I just noticed that the OP is in Kansas too. If you don't mind my asking, where in Kansas was this find made? My truck is in South Central Kansas about 15 miles from the Oklahoma border.
