Ugly Betsy.

Just wanted to post some updated pictures of the '63. She is homely old girl, but were comming along bits at a time. When I bought it it was a 3/4 ton. I simply installed a 2/4 drop with 1/2 ton drop coils. It actually dropped about 3 & 6". The motor is a 327 awaiting a 280 isky cam and a whole lot of other goodies that my wife is unaware of. This morning it was mostly bare metal. I spent the day sanding and priming. I welded the stake pockets closed and shaved the gate hardware. Its going to be Baby blue and white when done. What do you think?

Re: Ugly Betsy.

I like it. I hope you keep the side and cab custom cab trim. I think those are great looking trucks.

Have you seen the movie "Lake House"? Keanu Reeves drives a 64-66 custom cab in it with if I recall correctly a white and blue paint scheme. It also had big modern wheels on it.

She's a beauty, that's for sure.

Are you doing all the paint bomb can? Looks good!

Nice to see I'm not the only one that uses the LMC catalog as an assembly manual sometimes ;-)

Re: Ugly Betsy.

Tomsriv -Im going to put cab trim and new chromed side moldings back on.

Slepysal- I have not decided yet what to do with the gate. I have been toying with different latches. Im looking at different things. I dont want to have something that say "Home Depot" on it. Im kicking around the idea of welding it on solid.

Billa- No...no...no.no...no. The spray paint was just for paint color ideas. Im funny that way. My last home I painted half of the back of my house in different colors just so I could choose one. I know the truck is going to be a Baby blue & white, but I have seen variations of it that look awesome.

Re: Ugly Betsy.

63 & 64 Bowties

Yeah, I've seen it. I think the seat belt buckle is a clever idea. What I dont like is the look of it being used for something other than its intended for. Something less recognizable may be better (for me). I've also toyed with a patio door lock. That did'nt work either because to make it Not look like a patio door lock I removed the ribs and polished it, but the casting was too thin. Oh well. It was a unknown to me wether or not the vibration of the truck would allow it to unscrew itself.

Re: Ugly Betsy.

Just wondering.......If that carb you have is anything like my 1406 Edelbrock, you have your fuel line goin to a vacuum source. It may just be my eyes but if so,you should have your line goin to the nipple on the passenger side up near the breather
