4x4 Chassis ID + Value

I am looking at truck to part out.
The body is a 1950 Ford however it looks to be on a GM chassis.
It has PS (saginaw box), PB, ( hydroboost), 4 wheel drive with at least a dana front axle, posi rear axle.
Come someone tell me where to look to ID the chassis, transfer case.
I would guess it is a mid 80's but really have no clue.
It drive, 4wd works, brakes work, if the chassis, transfer case and T400 is worth anything let me know.

Was Hydroboost a factory installed item?

Thanks

Bill

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

Post some pics and I can give you a time frame of the year if its a 67-72.If its got a turbo 400 it likely isnt a 67-72 frame as there wasnt turbo 400s in the 4wds but it could of always been added. There is a vin on the front of the frame but with pics its easily identified. Also post a pic of the t-case and it can be i.d.'d too

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

If it really has a turbo 400 and hydroboost, it would most likely be a '77 or up K30. That also means it would have a Dana 60 front axle. Post some pics.

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

On the rear shocks,do they both point towards the cab or the passenger side pointing forward and the drivers side pointing to the rear bumper?I see a swaybar, which the 67-72 4wds didnt have.It could have been added but the chassis is possibly a 73-??.The axles are 1/2 ton.12 bolt rear,44 front.

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

Then that would be a 73-78 or so 4wd,assuming the front differential is original.Around 78 or so they went to the Corp. 10 bolt front.

It can be done pretty easily. You have to do some fabbing for the upper mounts.

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

Ok any idea on what the transfer case is?

What about value for the entire set up rolling with tranny, transfer case, front and rear axles.

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

I would say its worth around 600 figure 300 to 400 for the trans and transfer case and then 150 to 200 for axles if you were to part it out you may be able to get 700 for it but it would take some time.

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

73 and up 1/2 tons did not come with a NP205 T case. Are the axles 8 lug or 6? If they are 6 lug, I think there may have been some swaps made. You could get a NP205 and Dana 44 front on 3/4 ton trucks though.

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

That case is a 205 for sure and its posible that it is out of 1/2 ton just not 73 more like 83 and since its a 400 trans I would say half ton 6.2 diesel truck or burb both came with a 400 trans up to around 84 85 then they went to the 400 with 208 or 241 in the 3/4 and one ton and the 1/2 ton got a 700r4 with a 203. I get them dert cheap around 600 for the hole burb or truck if it doesnt run. Get the BOM number off the front axle and we can look it up.

He said it was a TH350. This combo was factory in the 69-72 time frame, and then also in 1980, when all K trucks got 205's. My guess is that this truck is like a potluck dinner...not just a donor chassis.

K10's never got TH400/205 combos, neither did K20's for that matter...K30 only combo. However, some C10's got the TH400, and quite a few K20s got TH400/208 or 241 combos.

Also, the 700r4 never came with a 203 behind it from the factory.

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

I missed were it went from a 400 to a 350. I had a 82 6.2 diesel k10 and I dont rember it having a 700r4 in it I dont think it had over drive maybe it did its been years ago I know my 86 k20 has 400 and 241 in it. but if his has a 350 no telling what it came out of you can still get the BOM off the axles and look them up and see what they came from.

Re: 4x4 Chassis ID + Value

OK I did find that tag and confirmed that this is an NP205 Dated in late 1972
So it should be out of a 73 truck
The rearend is dated 272 making it an early 72 rearend so it has most likley been swapped in, I am going to pull the covers and confirms insides and gears
