Wheelbase on lwb '72 for Dmax conversion

What's the wheelbase on a '72 lwb truck, or even a '72 Sub? My buddy just called with a killer deal on a rolling Dmax chassis/drivetrain ($1500), so I'm trying to put it together in my head...

Many thanks...how far off would the original '72 truck/burban sheet metal be on an '02 lwb 2wd chassis? Any ideas?

I have no actual facts, but I would imagine to make this work you may have to move the cab and core support mounts, move bed mounts, add spacers, trim down bed mounts as I'm sure the frame profile is different. But....I think it would definatly be worth doing and probably not really that hard at all. I say go for it!

Is the D-max truck a regular cab, ex, or crew cab longbed?

Even if you have to cut and modify the frame some..... that would make for an AWESOME 67-72 whatever...

You guys need to check out diesel power mag i tihnk thats what it is called this month they have a writye up on a 70 SWB step side with a D-max in it. Maybe when I get home Ill scan it for you guys to see.

Just Use The Stock Frame. A 6bt Will Fit With No Problem So The D-max Will Too. Frame Quality Is Better Than The New One Also.

I love these trucks, but my Z71 frame (similar year) is a hell of a lot stiffer than my 67's frame.

Plus isn't a D-Max considerably heavier than a 350 or big block? The newer truck frame (and front suspension) has been built to handle the extra weight.

I remember Dodge had problems in the mid 90's with front suspension failures on their 2500 and 3500 trucks from the added weight of a cummins engine.

That's just the way I see it

D-max Is Same As Bbc. D-max Has Aluminum Heads Etc.

I have a f#rd 7.3 Power Stroke, and it only has a 2 leaf front spring and a Dana 50 front. My point is the power stroke is arguably the heaviest diesel out there. Nothing special suspension wise up front. The D Max should be no problem IMO.

In the current issue of Diesel Power mag (Sept '07), it features a '70 C-10 SWB running a Duramax.

You can also plan on MAJOR mods to the transmission tunnel. Those Allison trannys are HUGE !!! Keep us updated ! Sounds pretty cool !!

You should say the heaviest light duty truck diesel out there, hitachi has built a diesel that is 6 storys tall and 300 plus japanese men can stand on the decks of this thing and theres still room, its also the most powerful with 1 million lb/ft of torque with a max rpm of 300,

Anyway even though theres only 2 springs there thick and wide and designed for the weight doesn't meen a 67-72 frame is. The d max frame is a GMT800 chassis and is much much stronger than a 67-72 frame.
