Re: finding parts for my truck

WELCOME!!!!!!

There is also a listing for board vendors. They tend to give a better price than LMC.Most ship anywhere and many will bring whatever you need to a swap meet if they are attending one you will be at.Calling ahead and getting them to bring what you need may save you shipping which can be almost as expensive as the parts. They also build these trucks and can help you overcome or avoid the pitfalls. You may find your build going faster and costing less by using them. Some may give slight discounts to BB members.
Clean it up and evaluate what needs doing then make a list and prioritize those things related to safety and reliability.Good Luck!!!

Re: finding parts for my truck

god i love my truck

the amount of work that is going to be required doesnt come close to discouraging me. from what we've seen so far, shes worth it. i had her looked at for a down to bare metal restore during my next deployment and he gave me a pretty fair estimate. so it will be worth it. i just have to get all the necessities done before i can put her back on the road. shes not safe to drive at the moment, well given that the clutch is gone and the brakes aren't far from it shes not going on the road until thats done. but with the crossmember being missing (still confused about that) and all these bushings being shot, yeah shes going to need a fair amount of tlc. i'm excited though, finally i get a chance to really tear into her and get her back on the road for good. i've missed it. i'll take all ya'lls suggestions and run them through my buddy whose helping me out. we'll check everything out and see what works out best for us. looking to spend every weekend on her until i'm done. we'll see. thanks for all your suggestions

Re: finding parts for my truck

Welcome home and thanks!

Don't think 3spd have a rear crossmember, friend of mine had a 64 and my 69 both 3spd and no rear crossmember just crossmember that bell housing mounts to.

Re: finding parts for my truck

I don't know how many years they were built that way but through the sixties all manual trans 2 wheel drives used only the bell housing crossmember setup as far as I know. You could have a muffler shop fab one up if ya really think it needs one on the tail end too.
You expect to be deployed again before this Iraq thing is over?
