my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

Oh I got a 2wd nv4500 IN THE DEAL AS WELL AS THE TURBO 400 hanging in there as well. No motor, some rust but my best shot at a 2 wheeler? Good buy, yea or nay?? Do not think about price, would you own it, and if so how much? I know I got a decent deal, but the wife thinks I got bent over. I wanna see what you all think it is worth BTW it is not for sale so don't ask!!

Re: my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

MORE

Notice the no rear in the first shots along with the yeller hood? But by the end of the day I bolted in a spare coil sprung DANA 60 I had laying around, and sat the patina'd light blue hood I had on there as well. I'll do brakes, then toss in the 500 hp 468 I have sitting around and the turbo 400 or 700r4 whichever, then I am gonna drive it as is!!!

Re: my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

Looks like a decent start. From what I've seen, 2wds going for I'd say around the $1500 to $2000 seems like a fair price

Re: my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

Wasn't there a post of a 2wd frame and title for $2k? This is a titled truck and the NV4500 was tossed into the deal (as well as the turbo400 still installed?)

Re: my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

Looks to be in pretty good shape but non-driveable always keeps the price down. So many people don't have the ability to get something running which is good for those that can! I'm gonna agree with the above price range. I'm not familar with that manual 2wd tranny other than I have read it is a good one.

Looks awesome!! I would love to have one myself! I think you should throw the 6.0 in it like you intended when you bought the darn thing!

I happen to have a very nice rust free blazer fender, and a great driverside fender if you need it..Ha HA. (for those that don't know, mike sold me my stepside with a completely rust free blazer front clip on it).

I doesn't matter what others think it is worth as long as you are happy with the price you paid. I know I paid too much for mine but I have no regrets and would pay it again if I where in the positon. JM2C

Re: my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

I paid 2500 for my rust free 4x4 72 Jimmy. It came with a rebuilt 350 auto and a blown 350 SB. Other than that it was complete with a newer suspension lift and tires and wheels.

Is that tub rust free? Looks like a nice start.

I have found that these things are only worth what someone is willing to pay. If your happy, price doesn't matter.

Aaron

Re: my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

Not rust free but but mostly. I have my eye on a set of better quarters. I have several engines so I'd rather buy a non-runner because then I know it'll run!! I stole it!! I was just trying to show my wife that I got as good of a deal as I did, that's all.

Re: my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

My plans are a little foggy right now. I have a new 6.0/4l80e with like 5 miles on it. It needs the wiring, comp tune, and a fuel tank, then it'll run as is. I have no less than 3 454's one soon to be 502 (454 stroked and poked) and a miriad of 350 (one Vortec) and one of those soon to be a 383. My only problem is to decide what engine and trans to use?! I am purchasing a complete front end kit with bigger brakes, new everything, so stopping will be covered. I want to keep the patina, but I want a 67-8 clip on it, so there-in lies the other dilema?! What do you guys think? I have 2 different sets of 20's so that parts handled!! I also have a static drop set (Frt & Rear) of springs.

Re: my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

I always wanted to get a 572 for a 72 2wd Blazer. Then have some custom side emblems made that say "K/572".

Re: my new 2wd toy, whatta ya think?

572 would be killer, but not at $12k!! Notice my 502 will be based on a 454 block, not the chevy 502 block. I could purchase a new 502 "GM" block and stroke it to a 572? Well yet another decision?! I just want to get it running, so I can drive the d@mn think, right now!!

Well, I think that the swing away tire carrier will look silly on a slammed 2wd and I will save you that shame by buying it from you cheap !!!! Honestly, it looks like a good starting point for a great project, and someone saved you the hassle of having to pull the engine.

Yeah, the swing away is going away! I thought the same thing about the engine, now I have a clean slate! I actually had this devious idea of putting the 3/4ton 8-lug front disc setup I have on the Blazer to match the Dana 60 8-lug rear I put on it!! Wouldn't that be different, a 2wd Blazer with 3/4ton suspension under it?!
