Re: Question for the 4wd owners

One of the reasons I bought the truck- metal hose = cool, brother's truck also has original in place. I guess that makes 2 total.

I'm using the metal tube on 3 out of 5 of my 4x4s, never had a problem while using them.

Re: Question for the 4wd owners

To answer timcos (why not rubber) I order mine in late 1971 and still running same metal hose. Replaced the ends a few times. But how many rubber hoses do you know of that have lasted 35 years? I don't know why other rigs didn't come with them also, except rubber is cheaper. Also doesn't swell up when hot. Picture in case some don't know what they are. Have fun with your trucks guys.

Re: Question for the 4wd owners

My truck came with a cheap ribbed rubber ones. I am still looking for a solid center section at junk yards but no luck....yet. Anyone near Seattle have an extra that they want to part with for a reasonable price?

Re: Question for the 4wd owners

The darn fool who swapped in the 454 into my 69 K20 went to a regular rubber hose (oh, that'd be me) but my 70 K5 is still sporting it's original metal portion.

Re: Question for the 4wd owners

Huh, I had no clue the upper hose was supposed to be metal. Mine is now rubber, I don't even have the original 3-core radiator either, switched to a newer aluminum one when the old one got plugged up.
