New to 4x4

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forums and the site. This is an awesome site. I found it by going on 4Wheel and Offroad magazine site. I currently purchased a 1980 Chevrolet (1/2 ton on a 3/4). I have some issues with it but I am slowly but surely getting her in shape. I will post pictures later (when I learn how to do it). The truck has a 305 engine with an 8 inch lift. The tires are 38.5/15.5/15 and it is geared at 4.10. Transmission is a 700R4. The tires are a little to big for the set up as it rubs a little when turning. I recently purchased some 35 All Terrains (I got em cheap) so I'm gonna put those on it for road driving.

I'm new to working on trucks and brand new to 4x4's so this should be fun. It is a family toy/daily driver.

Well, thats a little bit about my truck, look forward to reading the rest of the posts and just giving everyone a fair warning, I will be asking alot of questions!!!LOL.

Re: New to 4x4

Question's are always welcome'd, ask away.

Good choice on the 35's, those 38.5's can have terrible road manners.

Look into the FAQ section for picture posting advice.

Welcome to the board, enjoy the ride.

Re: New to 4x4

ok, welcome, welcome, keep the 38.5's if their in good condition. Trim the fenders a tad for rubbidge. 700 should help a little on the highish gearing and a stockish 350 wouldnt hurt either.

Remember "rubbins racin"

Re: New to 4x4

I'll be getting some pics on soon. She's a little rusty, got some minor leaks, and needs some carb work.....but where would the fun be if I couldn't work on her. The reason I'm down sizing is the truck is a little sluggish with those mammoth tires.
