Woah! You are getting way ahead of me there 72Cheyenne! It is looking good. How did that InLine brake line kit go on?

Did you sandblast everything before having it pcoated?

Keep up the good work. You will be a great resource for me as you will have lived it before I have to figure it out.

I'm hoping to get my posi ordered next week. I'm still a ways out to be able to sit back on her feet.

The inline Tube brake and fuel lines are great. Once I figured out which line went where, they fit like a glove.

The frame, crossmembers, upper/lower control arms sway bar and rear shock mounts were blasted and powder coated.

Is that the motor you are going to use under your name? If so send it to me and I will break it in for you in my other truck. This way when you are ready to start it up it will be ready to rock and roll. (which they will as I have a 502HO in my 71 Cheyenne)

Very nice. I wish I had the room to do that with mine. My garage is full of first generation camaros...... I guess I shouldn't really complain huh? Oh well... looks good. Keep us posted on the progress.

Hey that looks good ,I be glad when I catch up to were you are.
Did you sandblast the frame then prime and paint or what?
What kind of suspention bushing's did you use?
Were the brake and gas line's high?

Jhow66 - The ZZ502 came yesterday and I am going to pick up some Hooker super comps today. Which towers and moter mounts did you use in your 71?

Big Orange - I had the frame blasted and powder coated. The suspension bushings are all rubber except for the front sway bar, rear trailing arms and the adjustable panhard bar, those are poly. Since I went with stainless, they were around $500 for the brake, tranny and custom fuel lines.

Mine was a factory 402 so these brackets and mounts will work in yours. What gear are you pulling? I have a 3.07 and still had to put in a Eaton Posi to be able to use the TQ of this motors. Hope yours does not use oil like mine-( 1 qt. per 400 miles since new- 5000+ miles now) but does not smoke a lick anytime. Still would buy another though. Enjoy!

I am running a 3.42 gear with a new Eaton Posi. The General tod me that they had changed the oil ring to a different type in the later 502s. How long have you had yours?

I got mine in August of 2000. Did they say what ring to use?When I tried to contact the "General" they said to check with your dealer. Dealer said "duh". so I gave up and living with it. How long til it will be finished? Need pictures when done.

Hey there 72chevycheyenne where did you get the gas tank and how hard was it to mount? I have a 72 short stepside with the gas tank in the cab and I want to move it, good looking job you got goin there.

I got it out of a local junk yard and had it steamed and sealed. It was pretty easy to mount the way I did it. Instead of using the straps, I drilled 3/8" holes in the flanges on the side of the tank. I then bolted it to the frame using the existing frame holes and sway bar link bolts with the rubber bushings to allow for the frame to flex without stressing the seam on the tank itself.

Hi 72chevycheyenne: Exellent job on your truck, looking forward to more picks, Hi 70c10 Ive got a KZ 1000 show bike as well and got the header ceramic coated (same proceedure as powder coating) colours are somewhat limited but it came out really nice, the only bad feedback Ive heard so far is the coating can sometimes turn a lighter colour (primarily closer to the head).
