I am in NOS heaven………

I just got back from a short road trip to Amarillo where I met board member Mark (HOTFUN). Mark is an extremely nice guy and truly knows just about everything one can know about these trucks. About a year ago or so I sold him a loaded 67 CST, but never got a chance to meet him. Today, we finally met because Mark decide to let go of some ( I think a very small part) of his NOS stash. I bought a NOS hood, both NOS SWB bedsides , and some NOS trim.

The parts are just as described and I could not be happier with them. I think I was maybe 12 years old or so when he bought most of this stuff over 20 years ago and it was still unopened and in it’s original GM packaging. After I got to my shop it took me maybe two minutes to tear in the boxes to see what I had. Sort of like a kid opening candy or something.

Anyway I thought I would share my find with ya’ll. Thanks again Mark. These pieces are the last ones I really need metal wise and should round off my project…………………Jason

I never got in on any good sheet metal deals. Guess I was just to cheap to spend the money.

Re: I am in NOS heaven………

It was a steal, think about what the value of that truck will be when done. It is that simple. I passed on a set of NOS bedsides as I thought the price was a little too high, but in reality, my 2wd Blazer would have increased by twice the cost of the bedsides as the tub would be spotless then, Oh well you live and learn!! Congrats on the parts, and BTW WHERE ARE THE PICTS!!

Re: I am in NOS heaven………

The bedsides have cardboard abrasions on the primer, basically making them unusable, so just leave give me an address, and I''l come get them out of your way!!

AWESOME find!!!

Re: I am in NOS heaven………

Jason I'm so glad they look very nice. Hard to tell 100% when you don't open the banded boxing back when I bought them in the early 80's. And like I said it didn't matter because that RH side was the last of two we found on the old GM parts locator bell line at that time. They look a lot better with the dust washed of them too! Keep those old GM labels and reattach them carefully on the backside of those box sides for an impressive original GM documentation on your restoration. That truck of yours is just awesome and worthy of those part. I'm want to come back down when it's finished to see truck. IT was great meeting you and your Dad and sharing a common interest in the old quality number matching restorations of these trucks. Without a doubt your big block short bed is one of the nicest all number matching trucks I have ever seen done with so many original options.
I just got to thinking of something I had back up in my stash. Do you need an original in the box , NOS GM truck cruise control for it? Take care. Mark

Re: I am in NOS heaven………

Mark,

Thats a good idea about those GM labels. I hope my truck truns out 1/2 as nice as the way you are talking about it.

On that cruise control, In 72 it was a dealer installed option right?and not listed on the SPID. Is your a 100% complete ready to go unit. Does it have the button on the turn signal or the one mounted on the dash somewhere?

I guess shoot me a PM with price and I will do some thinking. I am a litle short on cash for some reason right now.

Re: I am in NOS heaven………

Jason
It was a totally complete GM accessory kit for the trucks as they were only a dealer installed option that I had ever seen. It has the lower dash mounted switch that says cruise master. It wont go anywhere and when you get finished we'll talk about it. I have to find it again as I haven't seen it for quite a while but I think I know where I hid it. Mark

Re: I am in NOS heaven………

reading this thread reminded me that I have a NOS GM add on cruise control with the original backing and the shrink wrap but the shrink wrap has kinda peeled off its sitting in a shed of mine.
