twin shock kits and soft ride springs......

do they work to improve ride quality on 73 - 87 3/4 ton 4x4s??

Not amazingly well, no... at least for the shocks. In the old days, you would need two, as they would fade from heat, if a single application.

These days, shock tech has come a very far way.

Leaf springs, too. Yes, soft ride springs can make a difference.
