Unusual bed choice

Saw this today on my way to work. I pass this truck all the time and it use to be a decent looking long bed, so somebody cut it up to make it look like this on purpose. I've always seen the late model step side beds on these trucks and they look good, but this just doesnt work for me.

Re: Unusual bed choice

Maybe it would look good after some matching paint. Maybe they put the longbed on the 4X4.Ha.

Nah... Just kidding! To each their own, but for me the body lines just don't match very well.

Re: Unusual bed choice

I think it would actually work if you grafted the front fenderwells of the same body style late model truck. It would still look better with the factory bed on it though. =P

Re: Unusual bed choice

If they put either factory wheel arches on it, match up the lower body line and paint it to match then it'll look good, but the factory bed looks best IMO.

Re: Unusual bed choice

Im gonna try and find the owner so I can ask about the original tailgate, if I remember correctly it was in pretty good shape. If I get a chance to talk to him I'll ask about his plans for the truck and see if he's gonna leave it like that.

I didn't notice the body line's until you yelled it out

It might be the angle, the bed is so smashed against the cab it looks like a uni-booty...er uni-body. Hell, all he needs is a few gallons of bondo, fill in the old crease, smack some new bondo where the new line would be and drag a butter knife along the side to create and match the lines of the cab.

Re: Unusual bed choice

the only way to make that bed look right, is to put it back on the truck it came off of. Thee isn't a single line that is close, even the curve of the body is missing, the cab bows out in the center, where the late model bed is slab sided.

Re: Unusual bed choice

After carefully examining that bed on that truck and putting alot of thought to it i think I`ve come up with a great answer on how it could look alot better than it ever could the way it is......Shoulda left it a good looking longbed than a cobbled-up shortbed. That thing is effed upper`na wombat!!!

If not, lets all pitch in and buy him one. There is one here on CL for $300 and it has been on there forever. I'll even deliver it free when I'm there in two weeks..... atleast to Tulsa

Two different colors doesn't help...with the prices of SWB beds these days I can't blame him for trying
