That is a real bummer for the DHL team and the Kalitta family, but it's what he loved to do, he retired twice in his career and came back to race, he passed on doing what he loved and he will be missed in the drag race scene!!

I'm not sure if the camera man was killed but the final explosion was right under the beam at about mid point of the run off, it is definitly possible but have not heard for certain.

Re: Rip

The drag racing boards I frequent say he never lifted(most likely knocked out from the massive engine explosion) & the car hit the sand trap, went airborne & hit the camera boom you see in the background.

Re: Rip

WOW, I wish I had something insightful or meaningful to say, but all I can do is add my prayers for the family like everyone else. My understanding is the cameraman in the boom at the end of the track also lost his life, so please remember his family too if that is the case.
