Post 383 Big Block

I could get a 1978 dodge 4x4 truck with a re-built 1967 383 big block for $100. Would there be any possibility of putting this enging in a 2wd c-10, or would it be more trouble than it was worth?

why spend $1000 or more trying to fab/fit a dodge into your truck to gain 33ci.

I think you guys are right. It would be a lot of work. The 383 is actually in pretty good shape though. It only has about 15k miles on a complete rebuild, and all it would need is a carb. The reason the truck is so cheap is it belongs to a guy that moved here from ilinois, so it can't be registered in CA because it won't pass smog.

Tell him to hold onto it for a few years. Then he can register it with there new laws...what are they up to, '75 now?

I talked to the guy today, and that is what he is thinking about doing. (he has been trying to sell it for a year) Right now, 74 is the first year that has to pass smog.

The truck is actually located in Manteca CA. If someone is interested in it I will let the guy know for you. I was thinking about buying it a while ago, so I will list everything I remember. 1978 dodge power wagon swb 4x4, 383 big block from 1967 chrysler newport, has 650 cfm holley carb, accel super coil, r/v cam (don't know what brand), rebuilt 15k miles ago. It was last started a couple of years ago. I don't know if the carb is still good, it looks like it had a major backfire so ? Transmission was rebuilt w/high performance shift kit. Has front running gear from 3/4 ton. Front driveshaft is missing. Has $ inch lift? with 33x10.50/15 tires with good tread. Has kind of rough black paint with blue hood and a little bit of rust on the right front cab corner. The tail gate is missing. The interiior is complete but rough, has seats from a mercury cougar, but drivers side is shot. The frame is cut off right at the grill, so you can't run a front bumper. Sorry about the long post, but that is all I remember about the truck, I will check back later, so if someone is interested I will e-mail you if you give your address.
